But...That is , still kinda Tomlins fault.Supposed really good D's ( that looked good all season ) Then play like Dog**** against the Stains and Jax...They schemed it up, changed, improvised...We don't have that ability...WE ARE GONNA DO, WHAT WE DO AND THAT'S THAT! Mentality!

If anyone knows about regurgitating same old lines, it's you.

@Roonatic@Roonatic is making a valid point. I don't always agree with his position, and it really doesn't matter that I agree with him now. What I don't agree with is Mr. One-Sided showing up and contributing nothing other than attempts at censorship. You don't agree? Fine. Don't agree. Say you don't agree. But for the love of Pete, just show up with something unique to say other than the people who you disagree with are broken records and you're, somehow, not.

Pot, meet kettle. You're both black.

Let this front 7 win something first, then we can talk where they fit in all time.

Truth be told, a bit unfair to compare different era's of Front Seven Excellence; doubly so to the 70s Steelers. I can make a case that the 70s Steelers possessed the greatest Front Seven in NFL History... something that should be easy to debate but the likes of Lombardi's Packers, the "Madison Avenue" New York Football Giants, the "Red Wood Forest" Chiefs, the "G Men" of the mid 80s, the "Monsters of the Midway" from 1984-1986 (though many remember the 1985 Bears and rightfully so), the original "Purple People Eaters" and both waves of the "Fearsome Foursome" all have quite a claim for that top spot.

Regarding this wave of..... who knows what they will be called, on paper, as good as the aforementioned mid 90s Front Seven. In practice? We shall see. If we are talking about a ceiling for this front seven??... possibly the 2005 team. Floor though... tough to predict there.

Off-topic, but I just looked up year 2000 on PFR.
(The next time someone claims that good teams don't have 3 game losing streaks, point them at the 2000 Ravens.)

The Steelers won 9-6 on week 9. (They won the turnover battle 3-1.)
The Steelers had their bye week on week 2 of the season. (???)
(After the bye week, the Cowher-led team lost to the Browns, who ended the season 3-13.)

The Ravens were a 12-4 wild card team.
The division was won by the 13-3 Titans.
The Titans and Ravens were the top 2 defenses in the league (by yards and points).

The Ravens were +23 in turnovers, with their defense leading the league with 49 takeaways.
(Last year, no team reached 30 takeaways. In 2000, 5 teams had 40+ takeaways.)

He wasn't going out on a limb and he knew it. He had the sense to respond to my post with a sense of humor. You, on the other hand, desperately need one.

Your right again, Highsmith being more productive than Mr. Dupree isn't really going out on a limb.

Was this the chapter of the begats? Like Ben McGee begat Fats Holmes; Henry Davis begat Jack Lambert etc.

The 70’s as you said were the best but football has changed so much since those days we really can’t compare because the league post to many penalties. I.E, roughing the QB, unnecessary roughness and the list goes on. I understand the safety factor but man this was a football game a some point.

I watched a clip just other day it was on Jack Lambert. He was a beast if a player did what he did in today’s game then would throw him out.

It was around that time that the NFL decided that scoring was more important for fantasy football and started making changes. As the years have gone on it has gotten worse with all the new rules to protect players so now you don't get the smash mouth turnovers like you did in the past. Just my opinion.

Coming from a poster who is completely clueless regarding Dupree, as you are, that opinion is thoroughly meaningless.

This is the message board equivalent of King Shark in The Suicide Squad holding the book upside down and insisting that he is enjoying reading it "so much," so thank you for that.

Looks like your ego is getting the best of your reasoning facilities. Too bad you don't want to discuss the possiblities of Dupree being "gasp" just a product of the Steelers system.

    Edit: If i can get you down off your high horse maybe you could answer this;
Does Dupree have better odds of making the probowl as a Titan? He could be the best defender on the Titans.

Until this defense does anything in the playoffs they should not be compared to anything

I haven’t followed his recovery enough to know. I have said all along that he is in a bad situation and likely won’t be back to 100 percent by the time the season starts. The evidence doesn’t support your claim. Take the way the defense faltered after losing Dupree. I think it will be a different story this season because Highsmith looks better and they added Ingram.
