I would be surprised if Jones isn't the starting LT in 2024, I expect Moore to move to RT, and Chuks to be released.

I personally hope not regarding Dan Moore.

That said, maybe a move to Right Tackle could help. He is far more athletic than Chuks is. That said, unless he can figure out how to handle speed to power, no matter what side he is on, it will be a problem.

I would think they would try to keep Chuks as a backup swing but some other team will offer him starter money

I agree. The potential impediment is that we owe Chuks a $4 million roster bonus at the start of the league year. We save nearly $9 million vs. the 2024 cap if we cut him before paying that bonus. If we want to keep him as a swing tackle at backup pay, he and his agent will need to be receptive to some realistic discussion about his value. They would probably be wiser to test the market.

Dan Moore was one of the biggest teases from preseason. Possibly second only to Pickett.

He was a bit raw coming out of college. Could take some time.

    True!

Still trying to figure out who deserves number one still! Kenny has gotten better thankfully but Moore has not. Perhaps this coming Sunday this can change but I remain skeptical.

I would prefer drafting a tackle than settling on Moore moving to the right.

They have bigger needs, such as cornerback and center.

I generally agree, but historically good centers and RTs can be found in Day 2 (even Day 3). I would prioritize corner day 1, but RT then jumps to a tie with C for consideration in R2. If our BPA at that point is a RT, I don’t hesitate.

Of course, this is based on only 3 weeks of experience this season, so who knows what will be revealed over the next few months.

    Some players need time

But, I'm with the coaching staff, Dan Moore isn't a bag of crap that he is made out to be.

If he was Jones be in there already.

Left Tackle of all the Offensive of Line Positions is probably the most difficult to play in the NFL, so I am not totally shocked he isn't starting yet.

But I get it we want ball players you want instant gratification that is what its about.

But lets not forget in 2003 people thought Troy Polamalu was a bust, Cam Heyward took like 3 years to be a starter.

You might get instant gratification like a Chase Claypool and be like man we have a guy here, and then 2 years fast forward he is shipped out of town.

I will preach the patience with Mr. Jones give it some time.... can't pull the Cookies out of the oven if they aren't ready yet!!

I think they still like Moore and believe he can be their long-term right tackle while Cole is more of a stopgap. I agree that cornerback should be the priority. Hopefully, Porter will establish himself as a starter by the end of the season, but they still need at least one more.

He has taken some big shots already this season. It didn't help that the Raiders got away with hitting him in the head twice with no call Sunday night.

Agree we need an anchor in the middle (aka Dermonti Dawson) since its such a crucial position on the line that you build around him. We need an athletic dude that can pull that can do it all. Then we need to hit on a CB or go get one in free agency. Just hope JPJ will be a success because any miss in high draft picks takes us so long to recover from. The Minkah type trade for us seemingly is once in a generation, but perhaps Khan will change that (every time I type that guys name I hear Kirk yelling Khaaaannnnn!!!).

you are right, with TP - he was 1/2 step behind when he started. BUT he needed GAME REPS - it was the double edged sword. I forget exactly about Cam - he sat that much?
We has SERIOUS needs in the 20223 draft - we did not have the luxury of sitting #1 picks.

For example - and I don't know, I am asking:
    1) Is Will McDaniel starting at DE in NY? We NEEDED an impact DE.
    2) Christian Gonzo, in NE - we ALL KNOW we needed a starting CB. my work colleague in NE said he is TEARING IT UP!
    3) Jack Campbell - LB in DET. another HUGE draft need.

We may have screwed up here, that is all I am saying. I am not concerned about 2024. the future is NOW.

We need to win while Pickett is young, on his rookie deal.

if Jones is young and 'green', then we messed up.

Why? They need a long-term answer at left tackle.

Don't get me wrong. I wanted Gonzalez, but it wasn't because I thought he could step right in and start. They needed two long-term answers at conerback and I thought he was going to be outstanding. After watching parts of Patriots games the last two weeks, it looks like I was right. I don't think Jones was a bad pick, though I do think Gonzalez would have been better.

That said, I understand why they took him. He was one of four tackles considered to be head and shoulders above all the others at their position in the draft. The other three had already been taken. Cornerback, however, was thought of as very deep this year. They likely knew that if they didn't get Porter, they could get another quality corner at 32. I would have rather seen them grab two corners. I would love to see that defense with Gonzalez and Porter long term.

I wanted GONZO too. I understand in part the Steelers took him, but, and again, I'd have to go back and look at the draft board, is there a rookie LT that was drafted later that is starting, that is more mature, that is making an impact today?

    We needed today players, IMO.

always need one on today, one eye on the future.

First round picks need to be used on long-term cornerstone type of players. If Jones ends up being a solid LT for us for several years, whether starting later this season, or even starting next season, it’s a positive selection. LT is a tough need to fill, and typically takes 1st round picks to do so. The impact that a 1st round pick has 3 games into his career is of near zero importance to any team other than a “right now” SB contender. We’re not that type of team in 2023.

I do wonder if the Patriots told the Steelers they would only make the trade if they agreed to not take Gonzales. Remember, a fourth-round pick is a relatively cheap price to move up in the first round. I hope that is the case. Otherwise, that's going to bug me because they could really use the guy right now and long term.

I agree with you, but to play devil's advocate, you could argue that Gonzalez would have been a great pick for now and for the long term.

At a minimum Jones should start at RT, Chuks is terrible. Immediate upgrade, IMO, and will only improve w more time

No.idea why he's on the bench while roll out the current tackles.....

Why was it the wrong pick for them? He has the most raw talent of any tackle in the draft.
