They don't always lie. They create on the fly.

My mother was the best baker that I have known. She made all kinds of things that were just amazing. The flavor. The texture. Everything she did always turned out amazing. Family have sat there and watched her make it. Written down the recipes word for word.

What they couldn't replicate was the ability to adapt on the fly. She would just judge certain things by feel. If the consistency was off, she would add a little of this or that. She had a way of rolling the dough she would make. Her cookies stayed fluffy when everyone else's were flat as a pancake.

It's like magic.

She is gone now. I miss her very much.

I also miss her baking very much. Many of the recipes live on, but they can never be truly duplicated and be made at the levels that she was able to make baked goods.

Some people really do have a special gift. She was a savant.

 

This 100% on all of it. I'm sorry that She's gone out of Your life, but I'm glad She left You with such wonderful memories.

I was lucky to have her as long as I did. She lived to be almost 93, but there's never a long enough time for the people you love.
