The Steelers hardly ever blitz. They rely on 4 guys to get there, they always have.

Thats my whole friggin point. Congratulationsfor stating the obvious and proving my point. When we go up against a good offensive line and fail to creat pressure with our four man front we don’t have answer. Our secondary totally gets exposed. We aren’t good at coaching up zone coverage either. We always blame on lack of communication. I have been hiring the lack of communication excuse for years now. We lack any innovation or deception from a blitzing perspective. By the way we used to blitz all the time there was a reason we were called Blitzburgh.

They are pretty good at blitzing their ILBs, they just don't call it enough.

Too many big egos for that to happen.

I couldn’t get through the All 22. Just too frustrating. There was definitely poor execution on a lot of plays, but we were terribly overmatched schematically as well. Here are just 3 plays very early in the game:

Colts first TD, 3rd and 1 at the 2. The Colts come out in 12 personnel, and we counter with…. base defense! Of course the Colts did what they do and pounded it inside for the TD.

On our next offensive possession, run off right tackle with the right tackle down blocking…. But nobody accounts for their OLB who gets the easiest TFL of his career.

Next Colts possession, first pass play, we play Cover 3 and across the field every single defender is allowing 5+ yards of cushion when they match up with a receiver entering their zones. Even Richardson couldn’t miss that much open real estate. Easy pitch and catch for 20+ yards. That’s not on the DBs. When you watch the wide angle and see every single defender allowing 5-7 yards of cushion, that’s the plan.

It just went on and on and on. This loss wasn’t just on the players. Our plan was terrible across the board.

The head coach is supposed to be in control of the defense

    And the offense

    That’s his job

No need to ask Mr Rooney just ask me

I’m here to teach you grasshopper

Lie I said this defense is woefully overrated. It starts with Tomlin.

To answer the OP, the D can start by getting 2 DE's that can actually play. It's been a weakness for years now

Can we find an IDL in draft that can eat up a couple blockers?
    Our lbs would benefit tremendously.

But you and others managed to get to it when Kenny Pickett and Worst OC on the
planet were here? How is that?

It will never happen. Tomlin doesn’t like space eaters.

Art II has given the keys to Tomlin lock stock and barrel. To much power for a decent head coach.

Couldn't wait to let LeBeau go and implement his scheme. And is responsible for the turtle offense.

They need a progressive defense coordinator and an offensive coordinator who knows what the word balance is.

Then let Hot Dog Tomlin just be the head coach. This worked in his early tenure.

    But alas it won't happen.

If our Ilb's are going to be successful he better start liking those space eaters.
This tackling Rb's 5 yards pass the Los is getting old.

Benton lost weight this year and they applauded him for it. Now he is getting manhandled and driven off the ball. I hate the way this defense is designed. We got a great press man corner play ten yards off in soft zone. Four man fronts and we don’t even disguise it. Not sure why any mlb would want to play in this system. It’s all about the edge players and defensive tackles. Screw the rest of the defenders. It would suck to play in the secondary or as an inside linebacker in Tomlin’s defenses.

when was the last time we had an inside linebacker or corner backer in the Probowl.
