There are 4 positions of serious need.

    LT
    CB
    MLB
    DL

After doing many drafts, I've come to the conclusion that we have to ignore one of the 4 if we really want to hit it out of the park.

Now, because the Tackle options are extremely limited, if we don't take 1 in the first, we might as well skip it and make it next year's priority #1

But I'd we get one of the top Tackles in one, then the question becomes who do we ignore? Tactically, the best position to ignore early is LB. Why? There are a ton of free agent LBs floating around and you can get very good ones for decent prices. 2. But I really like Jack and think he'd be great for us. So that leaves us cutting DT unless Benton drops to us in the 3d.

Strategically, here's the best route to go.

1 LT = Broderick Jones , Paris Johnson
2 DT: Brian Bresee Mazi Smith, Keon White, Adebawore
2 CB= Julius Brents, Emanuel Forbes, Darius Rush
3 CB = Calvin Phillips, Garret Williams, Reilly Moss
4LB Ivan Pace, Dorian Williams, Sirvocea Dennis

Thats probably how I'd go about it.

Caviar, I ll take Cam Smith and Njibga over the plan If they fall to 32. And same for Campbell if he falls to 49

I'm marking down all Yous that think Cam Smith isn't worth the 17th pick.

I kinda agree with your assessment of 4 positions of need and we really should only focus on covering 3 of those with our first 4 picks. Hopefully we are at least somewhat active in FA and get someone that can cover one or more of those positions.

Personally this team just HAS to get a CB in the first round this year. We HAVE to have that stud cover guy to go with Sutton if we want to do anything in the post season. Someone to keep the opposing #1 from just taking the game from us.

I'd assume that ILB is priority #2. Our run game inconsistencies are due to a lack of ILB prowess. Our DL either dominated and we stopped the run, or they played meh and we got ran on. If we had the chops at ILB, then the DL wouldn't have to ball out so hard to stop the run with consistency.

OL I could see us pass on or take a round 2/3 G/C. I don't think OT is in the cards unless we get lucky with "our guy" falling to 17.

DL is interesting bc I think this could easily be remedied for a few years with re-signing Ogunjobi for a couple years and adding a mid round DT/adding one in FA. Or we can just lock the spot down with an earlier pick. Options here

WR is a sleeper and I really wouldn't hate it if we took one kinda early. An Addison or JSN would be hard to pass up at 32 if they make it that far.

1- Johnson or Jones. Otherwise CB. So I'm going to say CB here.

    2A. Campbell, Simpson, Sanders

    2B. Benton, Ika, Smith

    3. IOL/WR

    4. Edge/WR

    7A. TE/T/G/QB

    7B. TE/T/G/QB

He is actut worth the 17th pick. Hence why I'd scrap the strategy if he makes it to 32. Assuming Johnson or Jones waa the pick.
I think for Steelers it's Johnson, Jones Skoronski, and Joey Porter over anyone. I personally think Cam is better than Joey Porter. But the Steelers won't

One of the teams that just constantly gets in the way of the Steelers getting one of the Elite Tackles in the draft is the New York Jets at number 13. So, we need the Aaron Rodgers trade to happen so the Packers, who do not need a LT, end up with the 13th and 15th pick in the draft.

Thumbs up to the Aaron Rodgers to New York Trade.... Lets make it happen! :)

The Packers sadly do need a Tackle also. So the trade won't help us. Not to mention, the Packers won't get a 1st rounder for Darkside Rodgers.

If the 3 tackles make it past the Eagles untouched, we have a chance. Tennessee and the Jets are almost certain to take 2. It's New England, Washington and Green Bay that are all maybes as they have slightly bigger needs at other positions

Not sure what you were thinking here.

This is what you really want:

    1. CB
    2 CB
    2 CB
    3 Slot CB
    4 Slot CB
7 CB/S hybrid, but he mainly is a CB.
7 Core ST player, but he MUST be listed as CB on the depth chart, or else we cannot draft him

    Thank me later. :roflmao:

I don't look for Green Bay to be drafting a tackle in the 1st round. Their LT (DAVID BAKHTIARI), is only 31 years old and a 5 time Pro Bowler. He did miss a few games last year, but still has 2 years left on his current contract.

The mock I saw where Green Bay had traded Rodgers they used the 2 first round pick on a WR and a TE.

No.....Apparently You misunderstood Me....I want best available CB/DL/SS/LB in that order.....but I don't want them to reach....so if their top CBs are gone....DL, or if they are gone....SS, and so on, and so forth.

I thought Bakhtari might be it a cap casualty. But perhaps not if they can get rid of Rodgers. But either way, I don't think the Jets will give up their first pick for Rodgers. They are helping the Packers taking his headache causing shenanigans off their hands. Id expect a 2nd or 3rd Rd picks in exchange.

The Chicago Bears are now in play for Tackle with their move to 9th

    Ohhhhhh. That makes sense!

I thought maybe you thought the draft was only 3 rounds, so there would be more of a sense of urgency to draft a cb.

Mocks have us selecting a CB.. and tbh I'm not sold on the MSU CB..he's weighs less than 170 lbs. Porter Jr has the size but isn't a playmaker.. Ringo to me is the better CB outside the Oregon kid. Whichever the pick is.. I'm sure we draft the wrong one
