Ok we will have to send heat up the middle and keep the WR'S from crossing our face into that middle...Some on here call that redirect, we call it a form of press with no inside release...It doesn't matter if our CB is 1 yard off or 5 yards he can't let his guy run to the spot where we just blitzed from ...A gap pressure and lots of it ... I think we should also play 5-1-5 and force them to keep some extra blockers in from time to time....I would also do some 1-5-5 walk around stuff to confuse them ....I might even use some old seat roll stuff from the DL to help confuse the OL from time to time....

    Offense
Step 1. Run the ball 30 plus times. Leveon and our line is the horse that got us here. If it's the horse we lose on so be it.
This in turn keeps Tom Brady and his crew on the sideline. Controlling the clock with TOP.

Step 2. Play action pass and Jesse James. The run game will also set up good play action. The Chiefs showed no respect for James as he was wide open on several occasions. Pats will shift focus to Brown, Rogers, and Bell out of the back field. Jesse James needs to have a game like he had last week. Ben needs to throw the ball 25 times or less.

Step 3. Take care of the ball. Enough said. This team is hard enough to beat straight up. Don't hand them anything.

    Defense
Step 1. 4 man front and man on man. Give Brady too much time he can beat you, blitz and not get there, he will kill you. Teams that seemed to have the most success against him, seem to run 4 man front. Flush him out of the pocket is key, Brady at this point is very poor in outside the pocket in his passing. If you create lateral movement in his game you can get to him.

Step 2. Don't be afraid to Blitz up the middle. A Shazier, Timmons, Davis, Mitchell blitz will be needed. Pray to the lord we get there. Hopefully we, get a mistake or a sack.

Step 3. Clamp it up in the redzone, make them settle for field goals. Create a turnover any way possible.

    Special teams

Step 1. Play like we did last week, and don't be the reason you lose us the game. Any play from special teams could be the deciding factor in this matchup. Either for us or against us.

Steelers' D is prone to the PI due to aggression and inexperience - Brady has exploited this with the Steelers in the past and will probably continue to do so - seems to happen just as he's about to be sacked on delayed blitzes. DB's need to play the damn ball and whack or intercept those lob bombs. Cannot continue to give up cheap 40-50 yd PI calls. (OK maybe once "fire for effect" on each receiver and Brady himself but only if/when we are ahead).

Blount was the real killer earlier this year, but I don't know if that is because Steelers sold out to defend the pass?

I remember we beat the Patriots last time with Lebeau when we jammed the receivers. Heath Miller was big in that game as well.

    1. Winning the coin toss and deferring. Belicheat makes adjustments and likes to get the ball at half. Start the 2nd half hopefully up a score or two and get a heavy dose of Bell. Eating up the clock and scoring. Leaving tops 3 offensive possessions for the Cheats.

    2. Stopping the run if they even do. I feel like they went vanilla in the regular season match-up since we had Landry Jones in.

    3. Jamming and bringing the heat. Do not let him dink and dump us to death. Make Brady have to take some hits to make throws and make him throw down field. Bradys deep ball isn't the best. Hope for some drops, they've had some.

I think Belichick is trying to devise a way for his defensive line to be disciplined and wait for Bell to come to them to neutralize Bell`s hesitation moves. I think he wants to limit Bell, then make us one dimensional passing the ball after we fall behind failing trying to get Bell going. I do not know if they can do it.

On defense: I think we need to look at what the Jets did to them in the past that gunked up their offense. I`m pretty sure that involves contesting the dink and dunk passes, but most importantly, making a sure tackle immediately after the catch.

You cannot blitz Brady every down. I would mix it up. Each blitz has to be well disguised and varied.

On offense: No slow start. We need to jump on them like we did to Manning`s Colts way back in the 2005 season when game announcers were saying "they are beating them at their own game." If you see a repeat of that game developing, we will be on our way to winning. The only difference is, we will have to keep scoring and not lay back with the lead. If we start off down 0-14, doubtful we will win.

I agree, Brady is going to pick on Artie Burns in this game.

A lot of good suggestions here. For me it boils down to...

    1. Run the ball and control the clock
    2. Be unpredictable on D...which may mean dropping eight a lot of the time
    3. Be physical with the WRs at the LOS

Since everybody and their Sister has been talking about Bell's hesitation style - I say change that and try pitch outs, bootlegs, screens , (the dreaded) bubble screens - anything other than running up the middle or off tackle which is where Billicheck will have them stationed just waiting for Mr Delayed Action to hit. Once we (hopefully) open things up - then go back to Bell's strength. All depends on how quickly Steelers can adjust and how quickly the Pats adjust. That part never changes.

Big McCullers Jas to be a force. Get nasty against the run and against the pass...engage the blocker but stay in front of Brady.... and when he throws the ball jump up to block it or get in his line if vision/sight

It can be done with the right personnel, see Denver vs New England AFCCG last season. They hit Brady I think like 20 times, the Steelers unfortunately don't have a stud pass rusher like Von Miller.

Use the fire zone blitz with Shazier and Timmons
    Win TOP
    Win the turnover battle
Take some deep shots down the field, DHB could be a factor

Run run run run run all day long nobody can stop bell right now he's a machine.
By running a lot it will also keep Brady off the field longer.
Plus it will open up the play action bomb down field.

Don't get blitz happy and fall into Brady's hands. Rush 4 unleash Dupree and JH. With the occasional delayed blitz from shazier.

The cheaters weakness is the Oline. Win that battle and we come out on top.

Don't underestimate Edelman and Hogan, they may not be All Pro like AB but Hogan has made some big plays for them. They also have Michael Floyd and Malcolm Mitchell.

Don't just tackle and defend, but "beat up" their offense with our defense and throw them off their game by getting into their heads early, just like we did to Miami. HIT HARD ! There will be 2 weeks to recoup til the next game

    Run the ball.

Let the running game open up the passing game... AND

Let the passing game open up the running game...

Pull out our best plays in the red zone so to make certain to score TD's when there !

NE is famous for scoring on the last possession of the first half, then coming out and scoring on the opening drive in the 3rd quarter. Hopefully Steelers win the toss and defer.
I think getting off the field on 3rd down is key, especially those 3rd and looongs the Steelers always seem to give up.
That and mistake-free on both sides of the ball.....and a coupe lucky breaks.

Need to press up on their WR's. None of them have elite speed. Shazier needs to shadow Bennett.

Another gameplan they need to have is to set the tone early. If they have to take a 15 yard penalty on the first drive to send a message to Brady, so be it. They need to give him something to think about early. I'm sick of that bast*** beating us. Time to break hearts on THEIR turf!

"We are going to need to score at least 30 points to win this game"

If Bos kicks 10 field goals does that count?

If their d-line tries to just hold their position to slow Bell down use it against them. Work the edges and punish them for not getting off the ball aggressively. In addition by working outside really work on sealing off the middle of the field so that the CB's and safeties have to make the tackle of Bell, vs the linebackers. Keep going with what works. Don't get cute trying to out-think NE. If you move the ball running, keep doing it. Force them to adjust before you change it up trying to catch them off guard.

Finally get Brown, Rogers and Ayers in space. Force their DB's to have to tackle in space without help. I believe if the Steelers can do this on offense they will control the ball long enough to give us a chance to win.

On defense make them drive the entire field to score vs. giving up the big play.

Historically Brady thrives against zone coverage.

Coach Butts will have to change it up a little.
