Here is what the data says:

    https://www.healthline.com/health/average-hand-size#adults

Certain groups of people are just too small to play football in the NFL in the USA.

But, relax, you are above average by measurement.

Joel that is nice but useless to this conversation

NFL player hands are measured by hand width from tip of spread thumb to tip of spread pinky which seems more useful because that is how you hold a football

For some guys it's difficult to get a true measurement on their right hand because it's usually in the curled position.

I dont think there is a scheme you can plug a QB into and forcast success just based on physical attributes and mechanics. The NFL is so fast that I think the best weapon you can send a young QB out on the field with is an understanding of NFL defenses.

    Tom Brady agrees:
    • Mental vs. Physical Shift: While acknowledging that modern players are physically talented, Brady argues that mental development—understanding defenses, pre-snap reads, and managing the game—has diminished.
    • Lack of "Field Generals": Brady noted that the focus on finding physically gifted prospects leads to less emphasis on grooming true "field generals" who master the tactical side of the game.
    • Coaching and Development Issues: Brady indicated a lack of patience and proper instruction at the pro level, saying coaches often, "just teach them where they're at," rather than elevating their understanding.
    • Collegiate and Youth Impact: He cited changes in college, including transfer rules and NIL, which impact the traditional development of players, as well as the tendency for youth to be told they are great, hindering emotional development.
Brady has expressed that mastering the mental and emotional aspects is crucial to being a top quarterback, and lacking this, a player is a "declining asset from the day you're drafted".
