I know we are brainwashed into thinking that Tomlin by in large does a great job with great results, but how true is it, especially after he lost all those veteran players who provided the entire team with leadership, with the likes of Troy Polamalu, Farrior, Ike, Keisel, Hines Ward, Bettis, Heath Miller, et al? The talking heads always say Tomlin provides leadership, but is that even true?

2008 - Super Bowl win, perhaps mostly because Harrison made a 14-point swing to end the half.
    2009 - 9-7, missed playoffs
2010 - 12-4, lost SB to a GB team who had 10 starters on IR
2011 - 12-4 lost wild card to Tebow, who was unceremoniously booted from NFL completely
    2012 - 8-8, non-winning season with a franchise QB
    2013 - 8-8, non-winning season with a franchise QB
2014 - 11-5, lose in wild card game, blow out to Ravens
2015 - 10-6, loss in div playoff round to Denver, had game won and blew it
2016 - 11-5, blow out loss to Pats again
2017 - 13-3, embarrassing home playoff loss to Jags

Our team is constantly outcoached when it matters most. The odds of winning another ring with Tomlin are slim, and once Ben is done, he will be an 8-8 type of coach from then on.

Making the playoffs 7/10 of those seasons can't be just glossed over. I'm not saying that he is a HOF coach or anything.

    Since Super Bowl 43...

    1) Won the AFCC and went to Super Bowl 45.
    2) Rebuilt the team and installed a stellar offense without a losing season.
    3) Went to the playoffs the last 4 seasons (2014 - 2017) and went back to the AFCC in the 2016 playoffs.
    4) Managed to snag a #2 seed in the 2017 season earning the playoff bye-week so many had been pining for.

There are definite criticisms to go with Tomlin as he is not a perfect coach. But you asked for accomplishments so I threw together a short list of what I think of.

I stand corrected, but how does one inclusion of one player change the thrust of the assertion?

Well, you are fully aware just making the playoffs isn't acceptable to Steeler Nation. He has had teams that could have went further if they had a quality head coach, who truly focused the team. We got a bunch of cowboys who are allowed to operate all loosey goosey. Our star back is making contract demands 2 days before our first playoff game; our starting S is allowed to make mention of beating the Pats when we have a game to play before we even face them. Our own coach is bragging of a match up between us and Pats as being inevitable, totally disrespecting any and all other teams we face before that even occurs. Pats would NEVER make these errors, but our head coach isn't even aware of how stupid these comments were. Unreal.

Mike Tomlin is not a good coach. I do not care what numbers you throw out. He has won these games, just like Mike McCarthy has, on the back of an extremely rare talent at the QB position. If Mike Tomlin had gone to the Redskins with Kirk Cousins, their record would be 4-12 with him.

Mike Tomlin has zero feel for the game. He has no strategy or in game adjustments. He doesn't. Ive seen it for 10 years, I know football and I know when someone doesn't know what they are doing in managing a game.

He has zero control of his players and the Steelers front office has given him way too long of a leash from what I have seen. Losing to Tim Tebow, Blake Bortles, a half Peyton Manning when his teams are clearly the better team is also not good for him.

Steelers will have to get lucky to win a title in the next 3 years. They have the talent but they do not have the coaching. Mike Tomlin either figures out some things with his coaching or the Steelers are destined to be undeerachievers with 3 potential and first ballot hall of famers in their prime.

He’s let some of the trouble making players run wild and disrupt the team. There’s a complete lack of control with this team. He’s made the team a laughing stock and the butt of jokes after the latest meltdown. He’s continuously put an unprepared football team on the field to struggle against weaker opponents. I think he’s done enough damage. Time to right the ship.

I see several new names posting in defense of Tomlin. Hi Mike and family!

The problem with threads that ask "what has Tomlin done..." is that there is never anything people will identify as something worthwhile, which makes asking the question entirely pointless. It would be better to just have a "isn't Tomlin ****?" thread and be done with it.

    Apparently they can be. :lolol:

I suppose consistency and success has to be soley determined on Super Bowls alone and not what it took to obtain them.

im usually on Tomlin's side but there are certain things he can do better. Get his players in line and not pucker his butt in key situations lol.

What I am fully aware of is that you asked what he's done and I provided a list. Ignore it if you like. Next time don't ask the question if you don't actually want the answer. :lolol:
