On the offensive side of the ball:

    - Stud franchise QB: check
    - Stud RB: check
    - Stud WR: check, check
    - Stud OL: check
    - Stud TE: check

    What went wrong?

Ben didn't always play like a stud this season. He gave the ball away to much.

Didnt have a stud RB with any consistency this year.
    Depth was shot without Bell.
WRs were good outside of a turnover or two. They need a WR that can stretch the field.

OL was good pass protecting. They are not a power based run blocking group.

    Stud TE?

No mention of the defenses ups and downs or the FG kicker that under performed?

How about bad luck and refs?

    Makes you miss those guys.

I think today's NFL is a different. Most players seem more concerned about individualism (mainly big stars) than being a team or making the team effort the main priority.

I was reading an article yesterday that someone wrote that this isn't just the Steelers problem it's becoming an NFL problem.

Not talking about just this year. Talking about the pattern we have seen over the past 8 years.

The main pattern that existed is that the team failed to win the Superbowl. Every season had different challenges. Even with those challenges the team had opportunities.

Win Superbowl all is well. Dont win Superbowl everything is a failure. That's what some seem to believe.

We went to the SB in the past 8 years? Have I been asleep?

Oh, that's right - we went to the playoffs and fell flat on our faces. Every. Year. (Minus the one where we went to Foxboro and had our collective arses handed to us).

My point remains. There is a pattern that has developed. Superior product, inferior results. Someone has to take the blame. Can't always be "bad breaks".

It's always been a problem. Maybe it's getting worse with money, social media platforms, ect? Player issues have always been around as long as I can remember.

Sad to say, but even the ownership handling the team affairs ... have changed. Art is gone .... Dan is gone ... and now the organization is left in the hands of a younger and less interested Rooney. The standards. Pride, and character is not the same. So, its trickling down. With a horrible outcome

For this fan football is not ONLY about winning the Superbowl.

Obviously the Steelers haven't been a superior product. Only one team has been superior to the others in this day and age.

I'm not talking about winning the SB. If we even sniffed it recently, I'd be happy - win or lose.

A lot of folks here rave about MT's stellar regular season record. That means we must have a superior product, no? Why the inferior results when it comes time to put up or shut up (playoffs)? Or are we just paper champions, year in and year out?

This conversation has one common denominator - Mike Tomlin. The Steelers have Bettis' and Wards on the roster, but the drama queens are shouting them down. Listening to Tomlin's press conference, moving forward, I believe we are going to see a different coach. Hopefully he is wallowing in his own lack of leadership. If he cannot get Ben to practice on Wednesdays, get the Bell situation resolved, and figure out the AB turmoil, he needs to move onto his his life's work. He is the one who let the distractions affect the product on the field. There was ZERO mental toughness with this team. In his presser, he sounded like things are going to be different, but the proof has to be in the actions like he said. My hope is that Tomlin's coachspeak leads him to look in the mirror.

the same can be said about Green bay with Rodgers, or look at those bengal teams that were stacked and won nothing.

imo a great team will win a lot of games but a great coach will get you far in the playoffs.

i hate to say it but canning tomlin is not going to fix this team overnight, what may happen is make a lot of people happy(including me) but eventually sad when results don't come lol.

    It's a start though

Players playing good/great ball is what gets teams far in the playoffs regardless of status, records, stats ect.

From what I’ve read ward is not a good person. He puts on a great act in front of the cameras, but changes in a big way once the lights go off.

If I didn't know any better I'd say you are SDOT reincarnate! With any luck, you're not bluffing. The door's that-a-way>>>>>>>>>and don't let it ......you know.

I don't like the idea of veteran Wednesdays off. Maybe in the back 3rd of the season. But I don't like the idea of it in the first half of the year when you are trying to find your groove.
