Joel never lets facts get in the way of his arguments.

In how many of those games did Ben get outplayed by some scrub QB . I know you aren't talking somebody being sensitive all it takes to trigger you is to say something negative about Ben or Cowher :roflmao:.

He also failed plenty of times against the Patriots in 2017 interception in the endzone, against Denver in 2018 another interception in the endzone .

I mean, you always blame Ben when Tomlin's sorry defense doesn't show up in big moment!

Thank God the refs helped Cowher beat Seattle in the Super Bowl, otherwise he would've been like his mentor Marty Schottenheimer .

And some of those moments LeBeau was in charge of the defense that's on him couldn't even stop Tebow .

The steelers were such a great team when they had Ben and Cowher together in 2004 and 2005!...At least Ben had more margin of error under Cowher. For Tomlin....

You hate any former player when Tomlin gets blamed for something. That former player is going down!

I dont think it was DL losing his mojo as much as it was a mandate to get players on the field quicker. His defense was notoriously hard to learn and would take draft picks a long time to get on the field. In order to do that he had to dumb it down which made his defense less effective.

Also, at the risk of ruffling some feathers, Tomlin started taking more control of the defense at the end of DL’s tenure. :tomato:

Some of you were clearly not on the internet during the Cowher era. Here is what was actually being said:

    • Cowher teams start slow and dig a hole they can’t get out of in games and seasons.
    • Run the ball too much.
    • Don’t run the ball enough.
    • Too reliant on the blitz.
    • Big name pass rushers didn’t show up in big games.
    • Too conservative (prevent defense and turtle offense)
    • Troy P wasn’t that good because he missed too many tackles.
    • Never changed or made adjustments.
    • The Kordell debate was wild.
    • People had detailed Tommy Maddox thoughts.
    • Cowher ran Rod Woodson out of town.
    • Cowher should’ve moved Faneca to LT.
    • Losing to “lesser” teams.

I’m missing so many. But it’s starting to pass into hagiography around here.

Cowher was a great coach. He helmed some incredible teams. He also had flaws.

I grew up in the ‘80s and ‘90s. Neither life or the Steelers then were as cool as the internet is now pumping nostalgia into your brain to make them seem.

You apparently did not watch the Tebow game

    The problem was Ryan Mundy

FA had a lot to do with Richard’s demise

Once a player mastered his system they went somewhere else

To a degree FA has dumbed down the product

Cowher took a beating. He was a great coach. His time for getting roasted is now over because another coach took over. Now there are more fond memories than bad.

Mike Tomlin took and takes a beating. He was a great coach. His time for getting roasted is now because fans had two decades to hone their skills and identify his flaws. He is still the guy most people want to pin everything on. His time will pass and there will be more fond memories of him in the future.
Mike McCarthy is taking a beating, and he hasn't even fielded a team yet! :roflmao:

    The circle of life!
