Best thing is that the Steelers have little invested in him. Didn't waste a draft pick.

I believe the 1st time is kept confidential. At least that is how it used to be. Not sure if the new CBA changed the rules.

Is he or is it the "juice" that makes him good?

I've read online that violating the banned substance policy (i.e. performance-enhancing drugs) results in suspension on the first offense. No latitude or warning on that one. I really like Saunders size and strength. But this is a gonna be a tough one to explain and justify. I mean, isn't it really cheating when you come right down to it?

I havent read the full story but it could be a case of him taking supplements and not knowung everything that was in them. Also there us a combo of supplements that will show up as a false positive. Im just saying lets her the full story before buring the kid

He's shown promise as a player. I hope the team gives him a chance. His track record is killing him though.

I could have a misunderstanding of the situation but i thought he got kicked off of the gamecocks for staying at hotel at a discounted rate. To me thats nothing anybody with verbal skills can get a room at a discount

There was one more thing, it involved possible benefits given to players at several schools who attended a party in Miami.

as for the party, NOTHING ever came of this!!!

It's my understanding that there's pretty much no excuse for this anymore because the team trainers drill this in to their skulls, what can be taken and what can't and if a player has any doubt whatsoever DON'T take it without FIRST running it by the trainer. That especially holds true for over the counter supplements since there are so many of them. Worse case he knew what he was doing and got caught. Best case is he's learning a hard lesson about PAYING ATTENTION to this issue more.

The Texans Duane Brown got a 4 game suspension last year for cold medicine so it could be anything.

saunders had to sit out his sr. year because he had contact with an agent. i just read that some of the things that could have made him test positive are over the counter meds. it could be something very minor in fact. if it is, neither of these two offenses is as bad as it seems and doubtful they would consider booting him from the team for. at least i would think not. i'm pretty sure they know about the agent thing, before he was signed.

Yeah, if he was on steroids or something, sure it's cheating. So give him the 4 game suspension, make sure he's not taking them anymore, and let him come back. If he sucks because it was the 'roids that made him good, then cut him. We're talking about the third TE on the roster. I don't think we'll have to give back any wins from last year.

Uhmmm Boomer, I don't really appreciate your use of the word "hyper" as a negative term. As the parent of a hyper active child, I take offense to.... just kidding! Really guys this is a sports message board. Sometimes we get a little carried away and don't mean to offend but it just comes out that way. But just in case, please forgive me in advance for the next 10 things I may say that you don't appreciate.

I just read a story on a steeler blog site, don't know if i can mention it so i wont but it said Saunders may have taken a "therapeutic" type of drug that may have resulted in a positive test. so stay tuned.

I thought it was performance enhancing. If it was pot, 4 games seems high. Then again, I guess he might have been warned.

From my understanding of the situation is that he may have taken a prescription type drug, they're saying 'therapeutic' something similar as to what happened to J.Dwyer around draft time. Let's wait and see there may be some kind of appeal if that's the case.

isn't that what i had just said? LOL over the counter meds may be the culprit. they do get a list of meds, not to take though. it could be one thing in something he took.

It's been confirmed that Saunders was taking a drug called Adderall ,it's for ADD. The problem is he didn't notify the league,an appeal is expected but not likely to be won. I think some on this board would benefit by taking some, you know who you are. lol

 If he can't win an appeal because of script med then the board is a BS gestapo.

Oh snap, I forgot to tell TTF! :o

Yeah, 4 games for an ADD drug is nuts. I get that he broke a rule, and I get that this might be the second time, but 4 games? Does anyone really think Adderall is his secret weapon? Is it performance enhancing because it helps him come to practice instead of going to the circus by mistake? I don't know anything about what's in the drug, but I seriously doubt it does anything to actually help his performance, besides bring him back down to earth if he has ADD. I would hope upon review they at least drop it to 2, or 0 with a stiff fine. Not like he's making a lot of money compared to other players. A big fine could really put a dent in him.
