According to ESPN, the Jets have claimed Wes Johnson off of waivers.

Two years in a row that our 5th rounders never saw the field. Hawthorne from last year and now Wes.

Oh, and for what? To get a guy in for ST play for a 31-10 ass whupping. Great move.

Do the Jets have an injury on their line? Don't they have to make room for him on the 53 if the claim him off waivers?

Oh my! These guys are not very good right now. Mistake after mistake.....You have to get something out of the 1-5 rounders. Something! Right now there's just 2 playing.

Charlie Batch said something interesting about not having Keisel in camp to help teach the young DE's which is why he believes they're behind.

I believe they have to add him to the 53.

So, we could actually sign him away from their PS? Just have to give him a hat if we do.

*edit, misread what you wrote. Not sure they have to put him on the 53, I think thats only when you take a guy off another teams PS.

If I understand what you are saying, that's incorrect. He would have been a free agent if went unclaimed. Since he's been claimed, he's on the Jets 53 man roster now.

Now I'm confused. If the Jets have to put him on the 53, why couldn't they have just plucked him from our PS at any time? Or anyone else for that matter.

Teams just cant go into PS guys and take them. STEELERS released Wes....He had to clear waivers. If and when he did he would be put back on STEELERS PS....He did not clear.....Jets claimed him. Jets must now add him to 53 man roster for the next game. After that game Jets may waive him (which makes him available to all teams). If he clears he can be signed to Jets PS. I think thats correct.

They could have if they needed/wanted him, though the contract process is different.

Right, you can sign someone from another team's practice squad, but they must be signed to their active roster.

Nope. Why do you think fans gnash their teeth every year about putting players with potential on the PS?

So any team can go into any other teams PS and sign a player as long as signing teams adds said player to the 53?

    Found this...

If a practice squad player is signed to the active roster, they will receive a minimum of three paychecks, even if they are released before spending three weeks with the team. They will also count against the 53-man roster limit during those three weeks, even if they have been released.
