A position of need. We shall see what he brings. Speed and great route running, i'll take it.
Indeed he does. But does he have what it takes to be as great as AB was.
Wow, I did not see that coming. Was their not more need at other positions at this pick than WR?
Oh well maybe he will turn into another JuJu?
When do the Steelers worry about who Tampa Bay. A perennial LOSER is taking? Wow just wow.
same reason they worry about who the browns take, the bengals take, the pats take. I don't give 2 ****s who picks who. the statement was. you could get him in the 5th rd. he wouldn't be there
Very well may be. After watching film on the kid, the player he most reminded me of is AB.
nobody, including the coaches, knows this kids future. or any other for that matter. I see a lot of people saying we had bigger needs. maybe, but I will trust the ones getting paid to make that decision. in this league you can never have enough playmakers. I think that is what he is.
we are really 1 injury away at wr from this kid having to play. I still say he will be 3rd wr by season end
I gotta admit. When this pick came up I had know idea who this kid was. So I instantly hated the pick. But after hearing Coach Drake talk him up on SNR, and after watching a little film on the kid, I am actually pretty excited about him. I feel like it will take him a couple of years to develop, just like it did for AB. It will be interesting to see how all these receivers will be used this year.
He better be when he is picked that high.
Elephant in the room when it comes to this pick:
74 rec, 1278 yards and 13 TDs
20 18 stats
49 rec, 761 yards and 8 TDs
Why such the drop in production? Players tend to improve over their college career.
Was there a QB change? A scheme change?
Said the same last night. I think thats what they are hoping for.
Would also be a nice little F-U to AB if it pans out. Go ahead and leave, we don't need you, we'll make another just like you.
We lost the best WR in the game. Shocks me that people don't realize it's a bigger need than they think.
From the highlights I watched his QB was freaking dreadful.
I think this pick was mostly due to WR coach Darryl Drake pounding the table for Diontae.
Really? That surprises u lol
I'm really feelin this draft !!
well if he doesn't quit on his team and become an azz, he will have surpassed him in some ways.
I've never seen Darryl Drake beam that brightly over a player like this before, and Drake is the primary reason why we evaluate, draft, and produce WRs at a very high level. So I'm not gonna speak a bad word about this pick unless it warrants one a few years down the road.
This sure brings up deja vu in some ways doesn't it?!
Hmm.. why does this statement sound familiar?! Oh wait! I remember!
I think Dionate will do fine.
Plot twist, Diontae will have a better season than AB
He's only been here 1 year.....
Has it only been 1 year?? I thought he came in 2017. Well either way Washington is up in the air, but Juju excelled quickly and Switzer finally found at least a competant role on a team with us. But that's not a strong track record, I must be drunk.
Well if hes pounding the table this hard just use D. Johnson as an extension of his abilities.
Dulac: Steelers Had First-Round Grade On Toledo WR Diontae Johnson
They should probably stop saying that. That just makes Terrell Edmunds, Mason Rudolph and Diontae Johnson ammunition if one or all of them don't pan out.
PFF has been gushing about Diontae.
