The Falcons had bad QB play the last two years.

So, when they lost it was on the players and not Cowher, but now when they lose it's because of Tomlin. Make it make sense .

I don't care about the Falcons offense, Smith probably isn't cut out to be a HC, now he can just focus on calling plays.

Cowher definitely gets blame as well but you really think Kordell was a championship QB??? Make it make sense? An entire Career with a HOF QB or Neil OD Kordell Tommy Maddox. Right.

Most coaches don't do that type of stuff in front of the cameras these days, I mean Chuks FAFO, I thought Sean Payton ripping Russell Wilson on the sideline was a bit much.

I get what you are saying. But getting all butthurt and in the face of the other teams coach because you got absolutely handled is even worse form, IMO. Hell, I probably have less respect for Dennis Allen for not clapping back at Smith. I don't want a coach who is going to wilt like that. That's weak sauce.

I think he was embarrassed. Winston blew him off and changed the play, they were supposed to kneel to close the game out.

Edit: oops, sorry, I see Jack mentioned Winston.

I remember that AFCCG against Denver in 1997 the Steelers were on the goal line, with Bettis on the team they had Kordell throw , he threw an interception and Romanowski clowned him afterwards.

Hated that moment my old man had some choice words for Kordell’s intelligence level.

They’re still working on fixing the (bad word) Lebeau issue. Updating our new OC might take quite some time yet.

The parts of his resume that got him that job just sailed right past you, didn't they?

Yes, this hiring favors a pocket passer like Mason Rudolph, over a mobile, out of the pocket, passer like Kenny.

I love the hiring because this is an OC that knows how to work with a Defensive Head Coach (Vrabel)

Now, we just need to wait and see what he does with his staff. I am hoping he cleans house, something we have not seen with all the "inhouse" promotions that have happened under Tomlin.

You think a new hire OC has the green light to clean house and bring in his staff? I find that hard to believe. Maybe they can grab Munchak but that hire would come from above him.

Did you catch Rooney's comments about the new OC would be bringing in his own staff. I am assuming Rooney and Smith set down and Smith got approval to bring in his own staff, before he was hired.

At least that is what I caught from DK's comments about what Rooney said in his talk with 8 reporters this week.

Was Cowher choking or was his QB playing below stud level costing him the games? Asking for a friend.

fair assessment, although sometimes a coach just needs the right situation too. Pete Carroll and Bill Belichick both had reasonably failed stints in their first situation only to be stud HC's later with the right team/situation. Not everyone gets to walk into a team/organization like Tomlin did in the late 2000's. Sometimes guys just can't pull their first team around. Might've learned and get another shot at HC. Hopefully he does, bc that means he killed it as our OC.

To be fair, Cowher had Ben for what, 3 years. Tomlin, about 13 seasons or so, lol

Smith is a proven commodity unlike the last two, Canada and Fitchner. If he comes close to doing what Haley did, I’ll be happy.
