In clarifying my referrence to the Bears I just want to point out that this PimpDylan thread started the week of the Bears game in Pittsburgh where Bettis completely ran over Urlacher. A truely great moment in Steelers history.

I don't think any of our players should enter the HOF until Pimp Dylan is enshrined.

I've always felt that once poor Pimply read our responses to his one post, he got the heck out of the MB and never came back. Probably thought what a bunch of nut cases.

I started on the old message board after the legend had his moment and had only been able to read the whole epic tale. Then someone on this board had a screen grab of the brilliance. That needs to be a sticky and Pimply Dan our mascot (waaaay better than SteelyMcBeam). Please someone remember where that screen grab is. The first time I actually saw it I was laughing my head off...

Not following along and I don't see anything funny beyond the "beating off defenders" remark.

I guess this predates my time and you just had to be there?

The basic story:

That thread emerged on the old board during the 2005 season, at the time when we were basically falling apart, on a losing streak etc. The thread went on for a long time, basically mocking it's creator. Not sure if the "we need a big back who can beat off defenders" was also in the thread, can't remember. "Pimply Dan" (as they became known) was frequently referenced as a bit of a joke.

But from the week the thread was created, the Steelers went on their legendary streak and won the superbowl. Because so long had been spent berating pimpdylan, as the seaosn went on people began to suggest that his thread was, in fact, the turning point in the season, and his sage words of encouragement may well have been the catalyst for the superbowl victory.

Pimpdylan was never seen again...

Ahh, memories! I was banned from the old board at the time and could only read along with the posts. "Beating off defenders" was a different thread but, also, gained a life of it's own.

HAHHA Yup we scared him off Grannie.. I can't tell you though how many times I sat here hoping he would come back. To date we are not even sure if he was just a troll or someone that really was kind of .. well you know.. Not all there lol

We kept that thread going and on top from Dec. 15 right through the Feb Superbowl and after over 20years without a Superbowl victory that team did what no other NFL team had ever done, come from the last place seed in the playoffs to win the Superbowl...The Immaculate Perception
