I don’t know if he’s gonna be a great receiver or anything but currently we have one receiver. Pickens is a beast but he needs a #2.

I was counting on him being the number two option personally. I said so after the draft. It is very clear now the team misses him.

It also doesn't help that Arthur Smith is constantly not allowing Pat Freiermuth to run Seam Routes or even Inline Routes.

Having Pat more involved would really help!!

Roman Wilson is no #2. Even when he comes back he will be working his way up from the 4 or 5 spot as the season goes on.

I don’t know man. 2-4 currently isn’t very good. If he can’t make at least a slot receiver then he’s a bust. I think he will be decent. He’s physical, he’s a decent route runner, etc. I just wanna see what he can do. I might be wrong. I’ve been wrong before. But let’s see.

Bust??? Poor kid hasn't even had a chance yet. Van Jefferson earned the #2 spot and is the best of the rest. CA3 has a couple of years experience on Roman. Once he is healthy Roman Wilson will start to climb the depth chart. He isnt going to contribute overnight because he is a third round pick coming off an injury. I'm not being negative, just realistic.

If he were drafted to be the #2 Kahn wouldn’t have spent the last 5 months trying to trade for a wide receiver.

I hope Steelers don't make same mistake with Roman Wilson, like they did with Martavis Bryant. Bryant didn't get to play until half way through his rookie season in 2014... and when he eventually played, he was a total badass and a great compliment to AB.

Nobody knows how good he his, or will be. We've barely even caught a glimpse of the guy yet unfortunately. However, they didn't draft him in the 3rd round to be their #5

the injury made the need greater - urgency

i don't think Khan worked for 5 mo. on a WR

they signed plenty of 2nd tier WR's , as you know.

Tomlin will make all sorts of the same mistakes. He does not play young players until he is bent over backward to do so.

See WVU C as exhibit #1.

They signed plenty of 3rd and 4th tier wide receivers. Remember the restructuring of highsmith’s contract the day before the draft? That was done to trade for a wide receiver. So yes they’ve spent the last 5 months trying to trade for a wr

I think we need a bigger bodied reciever out there for sure. The third down pass to Jefferson is a perfect example of the issue with both Jefferson and Austin. Jefferson couldn’t power through to get the first down and Austin couldn’t maintain his block to help Jefferson get the first down. They at least need to get Skowreneck or what ever his name is on plays like that.

If that indeed was the case, then they appeared to have their sights set on one guy and one guy only in Aiyuk. Seems pretty short sighted to me to put all of your eggs in one basket only to fall short.

We don’t know who they targeted. We’ve only got the reports from the talking heads. Unfortunately they can’t force a trade. It requires a partner and terms that improve both teams. It was reported sanfran wanted Pickens in exchange for aiyuk. Obviously doesn’t help the Steelers at all. The. There were reports of a three way trade, but once again that fell through.

Right, I get all that but I guess my point is that if they were mainly targeting Aiyuk and didn't have a back up plan, they either sh!t the bed on the whole receiver market or they were never as down on the wr core they have as most fans appear to be.

They may never have even been interested in Aiyuk

    The Steelers never said this

Just a bunch of wannabe sports writers and knuckleheads on this board

    Not in that order

I do think they were actively seeking a trade for him but to what degree, who really knows.
