We need another Lloyd

He is my all time favorite Steeler, period.

 

I will never forget him, the meanest Steeler in my lifetime. Also one of the hardest if not the hardest hitter

of my lifetime Great ball player.

 

I want mean Linebackers again.

 

I'm afraid the endangered Lambert, Lloyd, Porter gene pool has gone extinct. RIP!

 

Unfortunately, the days of extremely hard hitting intimidating football players are a thing of the past. The game has been watered down to accommodate high powered offenses which appeal to fantasy football interests.

I absolutely loved the old days when players got their bell rung and then went right back in the game. Now, they go under a tent, become evaluated and are told to exit the game with no return. Then on Tuesday they are levied a fine and/or suspension.

There may be the Greg Lloyds of the world still out there but they won't last long in today's NFL. The league will see to that. JMHO.

 

Truth! Driven home by Goodell talking about changing the catch rule not because they want to get it right or to make it fair but because fans want catches. The days of a well fought defensive grudge match with a low score are gone. These days those low scores are more indicative of teams ineptitude than a hard hitting defense.

 

Couldnt have said it any better. The year 2010 when JH92 was distributing all that pain marked the true beginning of watered down NFL.

 

I miss the Greg Lloyd days. Guys like Lloyd and Porter are a thing of the past. Pretty much any hard hit these days is either a penalty, fine, or a suspension. We are getting further and further away from guys like Lloyd and closer and closer to flag football.

"Just Plain Nasty" ! My favorite Steeler player. After Harrison got record fines he calmed his game down. I too miss the old days of Bad @ss Defensive play.

 

I have always wanted an "I wasn't hired for my disposition" tee shirt.

 

I found a place on ebay where a guy was selling them a couple of years ago not sure if he still.sells them or not.

 

Avoid Lloyd! It's a shame that, now, the hardest hitter on the team is Juju!

If you watch the video, most of these hits would still be legal; Lloyd wasn't a dirty player at all, even by today's standards. He was just a bad @ss. You can still thrive as a hitter today, just can't go to the head (unless you hit a ball carrier). One of the hits Lloyd did get fined for was on Favre but even Brett said he thought it was a clean hit. But Greg smacked him to the head with his helmet so today, that would definitely get a flag, but not the majority of his hits would.

 

Yeah true but you did see him hit one of the tougher lbs in the game and knock him senseless.

 

See it? I cut the picture of it out of the newspaper and saved it! Then, I ordered his jersey!!

 

He'd be banned from this nfl.

 

I have to agree Lloyd was an incredible LB and a great pleasure to watch. There is something special about some guys who tackle that hard, its like he explodes into the ball carrier, yards after contact negative 3.

One other quick comment the 4 LB's in CK 13's pic I would put up against any linebacker group in history period.
