Looks like we’re swapping 6th round picks next year.

    That would be hilarious.

Hawkins and their 6th round pick for our 6th round pick next year.

Not knowing who was picking when would make this a crazy trade.

    True, true.

It’s our 7th for their 6th, by all accounts.

Good move, he was destined for the PS I thought. Get something whenever you can.

Yes, Steelers.com confirms they get Hawkins and our 2021 7th round pick and we get their 2021 6th round pick.

We traded hawkins to Tampa bay for a 6th and 7th rd pick...... nice job to get something in return for a player who I'm sure would've been cut for nothing otherwise

Not the greatest trade. He seemed to be better this year but was behind the 8 ball.

I thought he was just a cut and would not be brought back. Maybe it was the injury but he really regressed. With that in mind, I'd take anything I could get for him.

Actually I take this statement back. He was going to be cut anyway. We got something in return. I'll take it .

Bad draft pick in hindsight though. I did like the pick at the time but it didn't pan out.

I thought Hawkins was a good pick. NFL injuries just killed him. You can't tell that pre-draft. I don't care whether he's here or not, I'm just saying it is better to get something than just letting him go. I think cutting Eli was a missed opportunity, but I'm biased lol

I'm sure he's happy to get an opportunity elsewhere. I wish him luck especially playing the Pats but against us he can go flounder.

If he wasn't going to fit here and we got something for him then I agree I wish him the best and hope he makes a career out of this.

I thought it was a good pick three years ago, but he had the injury bug bad. I don’t know why they traded inconsequential draft picks two seasons down the road, maybe as a favor to a team that wanted him so he did not have to be exposed to the waiver process. Maybe they will return the favor and slip the Steelers a serviceable tight end in a similar way.

AV better stay healthy because Hawkins outplayed chuks this preseason. Especially at LT. We did need another interior guy but we need one that can play center as well. Maybe the ps pick will help.

The Steelers are finally attempting to make things happen
in lieu of just cutting players. They have a long way to go but let's hope they
continue exploring ways to possibly help their team building.
