Thanks for the link - certainly I'm optimistic about the pick.

Then again, I'm always optimistic about our draft picks.

But when I read this kind of thing:

"the former Hurricane has the prototypical size, ball skills and aggressiveness to be a big-time cover corner at the next level. His ability to attack in coverage and locate the football is perhaps his strongest trait."

    Then I'm very optimistic.

Thanks for the link. I hope he has more success than the CB that the Bungles picked out of desperation to keep us from getting him.

Burns is one of ours now. We all support his selection and let's finish the job of upgrading our defense.

This was the CB that I wanted so I like it . The only thing I will always wonder is just how much the Steelers could have got for Lynch ? Denver was ready as they showed plus I think there where 4 or 5 more Teams who wanted to get back into the end of the 1st. for him.Oh well we got a good player , but I now have no doubt that if we had drafted Lynch we could have made out like bandits.

I love the pick! Who cares who Cincy got? Drafting a player to spite another team is a pretty stupid move IF it doesn't benefit your own team. Artie may be raw, but I believe our scouts saw something in him and I trust them. Im sure they knew that the Bengals would/could take Jackson and were ok with it.

    Welcome to the Burgh, Artie!

Artie Burns is pretty much like Lawrence Timmons. Timmons was 20 years old (like Burns) when he was drafted, he was raw... but he turned out to be a helluva player. I can see Burns doing the same thing. Burns won't start right away... I don't see him beating out Gay and Cockrell, but he and Golson will play in nickel in dime packages. There's no need to rush him into a starting role.

All the corners drafted yesterday have a lot of work to do to get NFL ready, even Ramsey has his flaws, and Apple was a huge reach at 10, theres a whole lot of good players left in this draft starting today.....

Definitely agree on the Apple pick. We were all really shocked when they announced that pick.

At least he has what cannot be taught, top notch natural athletic skills.

I would love to see us draft strong safety Miles Killebrew today, he's a big rangy player at 6-2-217, had an amazing 243 tackles combined his junior and senior year, 132 tackles last year, we need this guy, projected 3rd round but probably wont make it to where we draft late in the second RD today, but i'm not adverse to moving up in the second round to draft him, he's not a reach for us to trade up to get him in my opinion....

I like the pick. I think he has what isn't being talked about and that is a level of maturity. Sometimes that is more important than the skill. Well, kind of maybe or not but yeah!

Agree with this, that is what I think about Burns. Now the important thing is this will either make or break Lake's coaching experiment. This will be something to watch this year.

Ramsey is the best cornerback I've seen coming into the league in a long time.

Not sure if you were watching ESPN or not, but Gruden kept showing tape of Ramsey as a Safety. Absolutely brutal. Completely lost. I say leave him at Corner.

Actually, he's better suited for a hybrid safety, he started at free safety in 2014, moved to boundry corner in 15, didnt record any picks last year, so the jags will have to figure out where he is the best fit in their secondary.......

Yeah, with Burns and Golson, he's got a #1 and #2 rd DB with zero NFL experience. Lake is probably the most important coach for the future of this defense (OK, maybe a bit of an overstatement, but...)

It sounds like they eventually want him in the Ike role of you play man and everyone else will be in zone around you. Or maybe with him and Cockrell they are planning on playing a lot more ma . Gay and Golson are zone corners though.
