"We can already say, without a doubt, that was a terrible pick."

I think Davis is the new FS. He never should have been a SS. Burnett can play either. I think the 3 safety look will work well.

The media ranked him low, nfl teams ranked him significantly higher(1st).

I'll bet there are not a lot of SS in this league that go 217 and run a 4.47.

Yeah man I was all for Reid but knew he wasn’t our pick but now I am on the Edmunds train.....woot woot!!! As for Washington he is my favorite pick and I think for the next few years will make the trio of AB , Juju and Washington one of the most feared in the league

My hope is that the older Edmunds will show more maturity and be closer to NFL ready than his younger bro. As said before, VT has produced some solid draft picks in the past, so hopefully the tradition continues. Go Hokies (my daughter graduates from there next week).

    Actually Jackattack you can't miss!

From Bleacher Report re: Jarvis Jones 2013
“This year's candidate is Georgia's Jarvis Jones, who fell to the Pittsburgh Steelers at pick No. 17 on Thursday.
The former Bulldog undoubtedly trickled down draft boards because of health concerns and a slow 40-yard dash, but in the end, The Black and Gold filled arguably their biggest need with a player who has Pro Bowl potential.
    Sorry, rest of the NFL.”

Jones may have a few question marks, but there are few players with more quickness around the edge. Few who have produced more gaudy stats at such an elite level. Few who have more instincts or who are more relenting at finding the quarterback. Few who have his combination of size (6'2", 245 lbs), athleticism and explosiveness.”

    How Does he Fit?
    What's another word for super-duper-amazingly-stupendously-perfect?”

“Well, how does arguably the best edge-rusher in the draft sound?
The Steelers need Jones, and Jones needs the Steelers, who have a habit of turning linebackers into Pro Bowlers.
It's difficult to find a better fit than that.”

So by your logic their should be no such thing as a draft order or a draft for that point because every player coming in is equal value until you see him play.

To say someone is a bust because he's not on Mel Kipers, Mike Mayocks, or this Miller's board is quite frankly a sign of immaturity. Sorry but people have this XBox NFL mentality that if a guy doesn't grade well he's a bust. These purported 'experts' have been wrong time and time again.

The reality is, the Steelers saw a hybrid type of player that can help in pass coverage and run support in nickle and dime packages immediately. How he was utilized in Virginia Tech is most likely how the Steelers will look to implement him.

This was their answer to the best player available to meet THEIR NEEDS on defense with the vacancy of Ryan Shazier.

They were unsuccessful trading up to get Rashan Evans in the first, and with the pickup of Mason Rudolph in the third, HOW MANY ARE COMPLAINING NOW they didn't trade away their pick?

The bottom line is this kid will come in and play a functional role with the starting potential. We don't know ultimately how he will pan out, but based on tape he looks to be a solid pickup that will help now and into the future.

Not something I will say is a 'bust' because someone had him ranked lower on their board then the Steelers did.

Its illogical to think you cant anticipate what a player will do based of film.

Some of these users are quite stoic when it comes to their beliefs.

If only they had the sufficient information and research to back up their claims. :lolol:

4.47 speed is slow now? Since when? At 217 pounds to boot?

Since both Bleacher Report and some users stated so in spite of the fact that Derwin James has the exact same timed speed.

That is right OX1947. Only Derwin James gets away with running a "blazing 4.47". No exceptions. :lolol:

Because the coaches and personell workers of the particular team didn't evaluate who ever they drafted correctly. But its several factors other than play that can go into a bust. Like rg3. They didn't do a bad job picking him he just could not stay healthy.

Injuries aside, plenty of prospects have good film that dont make it in the NFL.

1st rd is littered with busts, they almost all have very good film.

Theres a huge talent jump to the NFL and the game is more complex.
