Trade up with the Bungles and get Joe Burrow. Give the first 5 rounds like Ditka did in N.O. Only half joking.;)

it's never too early to discuss the draft, my favorite time of the year.

it's hard to say because we don't have a 1st round pick and will have to wait until mid/late in the 2nd round to make our first selection, but here's what we do have:

Rd 1 (none, traded away for Minkah Fitzpatrick who was well worth it)
    Rd 2 (our own)
Rd 3 (traded our own away as part of the Devin Bush trade, but hopefully a comp for Le'Veon Bell)
Rd 4 (a very early 4th from Miami as part of the Fitz trade)
    Rd 4 (our own)
Rd 5 (none, traded pick we got from Jacksonville for Dobbs away to Seattle for Nick Vannett and our own 5th rounder to Miami as part of the Fitz trade)
    Rd 6 (our own)
    Rd 7 (our own)

I don't follow college ball but my wish list:

Rnd 2- RB or starting te HEATH!
Other Rnds- depth in the trenches

What do you want to see defva?

I don't personally think they have anyone here really capable of coaching up a QB so no need to get another new one... Especially with Ben coming back. Need to spend what's left of drafts capitol trying to replenish both lines... Gonna be an interesting off season.

I'm a ducks guy so I follow mostly PAC 12 ball... It's all such a roll of the dice and that's why we all have so many on wish lists come draft time, very hard to keep up with as far as having a pulse on every available athlete at each pick other than the STUDS they hype.

I agree, be nice to land a solid TE. I don't know they need to go RB just yet. I'd like to see what a year growth does for snail and I'm really wanting to see what white can bring as the change up guy. Still have Connor and that's great when he's healthy and Samuels is what he is which is serviceable... But none of it matters in that group if they're gonna pull the **** they did last week with under use/wildcat nonsense Hahahahahha

Line depth on both sides is MANDO!!!

a lot also depends on whether or not we resign Bud Dupree and/or Javon Hargrave.

I'd like to see Ben get a dump off receiver type RB that can complement Conner, not just a 3rd down back. Snell & Samuels can spell them if needed.

    Edit: Can Whyte catch?

Because of the limited amount of picks. I would say, play the depth of the draft and go with a position of need accordingly. Ex: we need a t.e and the draft is deep with bonafide ten's. Then go with that position and so on

So a 2nd, 3rd comp, 4th miami and our 4th? I say something along the lines of TE, OL, DL, and BPA, depending on free agency of course, and probably in that order. Vance might be a cap casualty and you know what they say about availability. Regardless, we should probably have 3 capable TE anyways

Offensive line, defensive line and tight end are the main needs imo. What they do with Dupree is a big determining factor in what happens with that second round pick.

Should Ben last until 40 I'd say don't draft our future QB until 2021 draft. I'd try and find a center. IMO very important for the offense. Not sure what we have now but Steelers have had success when they have had an above average center.

Maybe Ray Mansfield will come back from beyond. Just goofing, I loved that guy. Always remember he had to kick an extra point for us because Roy G. was hurt.

If Ben pledged to come back in the best shape of his career and wants us to go all in for a Super Bowl run, I would be ok with giving up anything to get the best TE or receiver in the draft.

Need Tomlin to propose this to Ben and Ben agree. If we have an actual offense to go with our defense, we will have a shot at #7.

Its hard to have a feel for who the Steelers might target with our first pick being a late 2nd. Maybe a solid TE falls that far and we end up with BPA at a position of need. Win win.

I would really see who's around when it's time to pick.
Probably need to build the Offense, but if there's a higher ranked D player available...

    That suggestion is hilarious.

He hasn’t done that one year in his career. Now he can’t.

    Hey Dobbler 33.

Why get a solid TE? This coaching staff does not know how to utilize the ones we have. Totally Disgusted with this. Yeah, I know Vance has some injury issues however, when he is playing they do not utilize him or Vannett effectively anyway. Maybe we can draft an OC that knows what to do with a TE. Maybe to boot, since he signs off on the game plans, we could draft a Head Coach as well. Oh no, I will now get all the Tomlin lovers responding. Well, bring them on (smile). I am not worried about Fichtner responders. Simply because, I do not think that there is anyone here that likes him anyway.:lolol: I even cracked myself up with that one.

It’s early in the process but TE looks weak in the draft. WR is exceptionally deep.

Vanette is also a FA. Kind of a disappointment so far, probably would not take much to resign, and one would hope the last few games are not his best work. That said, I wonder if James is in Detroit's future plans. If he gets cut Would not mind having him back if the price were right, thus would take a long look at C or G for our 2nd round pick.

    Hey thesteeldeal.

Then lets get a WR that is built like a TE. Big, Strong and Durable. Does not have to be exceptionally fast. We have my three Formidable #2 WRs for that (JuJu, Washington and Johnson). Then again, now that I think about it, I really do not think any of them are exceptionally fast. Maybe add speed to my wish list as well. We may have to go into the laboratory to create this "Prototype". Yeah, "Take the Top Off Speed" at that. Kind of like Vance McDonald or Heath Miller with speed. I do not follow the college game that much. Is there anyone out there that fits that bill for us; that would not be a "Project". I know that seems to be asking a lot; especially since we do not have a first round draft pick. So, we may have to settle for a very, very promising "Proven Commodity" or "Project" in this case in Round Two.

I still think that my three Formidable #2s (JuJu, Washington and Johnson) once, and finally, altogether on the field at the same time, are going to have to be reckoned with. Provided, we have decent TEs and RBs to complement them which I think we do right now. The key is we have not been able, for most of the season, to get them all on the field at the same time. Primarily, as they all seem to alternate being injured each week. I think today's game they may all finally be on the field at the same time. I am not sure about everyone being 100% healthy but that is tough at this point in this season anyway. As stated, I would just be happy to have them all on field at the same time today. And of course the QB doing his part to bring all of this together. Along with a good coaching plan that includes utilizing the TEs.

To be honest I'm not sure Vance won't be a cap casualty and not sure what Vannett is gonna ask for come pay day time as I think he's (correct me if I'm wrong) due from his rookie deal? You know I've agreed with you a 100 times over about the lack of TE involvement thus far.
