:this!: Ben missed 3 games and people talk about its ok bc hes just a little rusty. Put almost a year on that and see what happens. Troy is probably also worried about a re-injure and is easing back into the game. Even Harrison was a slow coming back.

Troy is done. I will be surprised if he is their next year. For the past few years their has been an injury to him and kept him out for some time. I'm sure that if you people on this board took that much time off from your job. You would be gone. I like Troy but let's be honest. If he is not doing the team any good and for the money he is making, I would say it is time for him to go and sit on someone else's bench and heal.

One big problem with this theory. If my job fired me... they wouldnt have to still pay me and have that pay count towards a cap..

Agree.. though it would be hard to find a player as was Troy in his prime its time for him to go...he's not a factor and our opponents in the League know it too.

Unfortunately, I hear this is going to be a bad draft for safties.... I would say maybe we just roll with Will Allen next year, but this is the first year he has been healthy since arriving. He health is not dependable either.

I think they give Troy 1 more year to redeem himself. Honestly, maybe they should have just IR'd him to let him get fully healed for next year.

It is hard to say when a guy is done. I have thought Ed Reed has been done for about 5 years, but he keeps on coming back and performing at a high level?

Its not about troy redeeming himself..just not sure if his resent efforts are contributed as being rusty or handicapped with his current health issue....either way Troy's performance has been going south for the last 3 yrs. Its obvious his speed is not near his old 4.3 we got our monies worth 6 of his 9yrs. Time for fresh blood... i foresee personnel / player changes in Pittsburgh 2013

Over weight and out of shape, these are not 2 good
qualities to have when you are a professional football player. See lamaar Woodley!

thats what we thought after last season. but we pretty much see the same old guys that were struggling to get it done last year still in there this year.

i would like to think that they will make some major changes.

guys that should either be gone or not starters anymore:

    Hampton
    Keisel
    Harrison
    Troy
    Foote

    that defense is very old.

on offense its a bit tougher because for the most part they are young and another year will do them good.

i can see these guys gone:

    Starks
    Colon
    Pope
    Batch
    Lefty

i doubt the oline guys will be gone, but i hope they arent the starters anymore.

Agree...our D is way behind other teams in the league (accept Ravens it too caught up to them)) as to restructuring. If Pittsburgh don't bring in some fresh bodies it will be deja vu next year. Too many $$ rotating the bench with new and reoccurring injuries... We been dealing with this plague for a few years its time to fix it. A few on your offense i've been saying has to go as well.

Troy made one of the dumbest looking tackle attempts ever yesterday against Harris I believe it was. He just jumped OVER him! Simms said "I think he was trying to strip the ball." I thought man that was retarded!

    I'll weigh in on Troy:

He's one of three guys on our defense capable of making a big play (Timmons and Harrison the other two), is still tops against the run, is always around the ball, and QB's still account for him on every play. And yet here we are wanting to run him out of town. Troy is a guy that will be willing to take a generous pay cut to stick around here until his time has come, which is probably in 2-3 years. That will give us time to find his replacement (it's not Will Allen) and give him time to go out on his own terms.

Is he the Troy of 4 years ago? No, he's not. But Troy circa 2013 is still better than most SS's out there right now. Yeah, he jumped over the dude instead of tackling him, but at least he was in position to make a play and made an attempt at forcing a turnover, something the other guys on our defense could learn from.
