Most of the national writers write the Steelers are taking a QB, but the local writers lean to a d-lineman. Who will be right/ My guess is both are wrong.

Gotta keep in mind that with the Damone Clark injury guys like Beavers and Brandon Smith jump up a spot.

Lindstrum might be the 2nd best center in this draft. After Linderbaum is picked there is going to be a team that reaches for a center.

This draft sites are all over the place this year.

I think I read that Tomlin took Josh Ross out to dinner. He is definitely in play late.

there are a few centers out there and a couple of guys that offer more in the way of being more position flexible like cade mays, hines, west, fortner, maietti, watenburg, empry, wheeler, wahlabaugh, owens, newell, deaton. many of these guys have better size. lindstrum is limited and has never played another position. he is a little undersized as well but a smart cookie. i've seen him from 4th on down in most rankings. reminds me of hassenauer a lot.

Here is an interesting mock that has the Steelers picking at 20 and then trading back into the 1st round to take Ridder. I like the idea of taking QBs at the end of round 1 to secure that 5th year option.

I saw this a day or so ago as well. I guess I could live with their idea of giving up the two seconds to move back up for Ridder, though this QB class isn't one I'd want to commit additional capital to. Still, for what it is Ridder has grown on me a bit, and it'd be an easier pill to swallow than another site that had the Steelers sending their first and second round picks in 2022 & '23 to the Giants to take Willis at #5. o_O

I actually had a slightly larger beef with this one taking Penning with Davis and Linderbaum still on the board. That's not a knock on Penning - dude's 6'7"/330, and has the athleticism, strength (625# squat/325# power clean), and attitude to be a plus OT . I'm just partial to having a dominant center with Linderbaum, and Davis has been all I want for Christmas since January (though the lack of reports connecting him to the Steelers suggests that even if he makes it to 1.20 I'll get left as high 'n dry as @S.T.D and his Day One CB dreams last year).

I agree I'm more partial to Davis over Penning. But I'll take Penning over Linderbuam. But I like the pick.

Hopefully If we trade back in to the late 1st, it's for Corral.

I think Zappe has the skills to become a quality NFL backup. The team could save money and pick up a 6th or 7th round pick for Rudolph.

I would not mind seeing Dax Hill with the 20 pick.

Boy, I guess I am not seeing the QB at 20 or earlier, although I feel the Steelers will do something
in the 2nd round with a QB. (Howell/Ridder)? I am targeting a cb from Clemson with this pick.

None You named are legit starting CBs...all, but Wallace was on the team last year, and.... .Hell Haden was still our best CB last year, and He's gone.

sutton was legit when they finally moved him to the slot towards the end of the season. he was playing well at that spot. witherspoon came on late too. wallace i do believe can be trusted to hold down wr2. fix that strong safety spot with a capable guy in coverage and allow minkah to actually play free safety, both without having to be the inside linebacker of the team and we could be fine on the backend. fixing the inside linebacker spot will help the front end and the backend. it changes the responsibilities of these other positions. our two safeties shouldn't lead the team in tackles. that takes them away from their true duties back there.

Why waste a pick on a QB? If it's not a 1stvor 2nd rounder we might as well skip QB. We have 3 young guys in house already.

I think Zappe has the potential to be better than Rudolph or Haskins and will be cheaper.

In theory You are correct:thumbs_up:, but I'm not sold on any of our CBs. Everything good I seen came towards the end of the season. WE need more than just a part of a season....also We did have Haden out there helping out. He is gone now.
I totally agree about what You said about the safety position, and how it would help.
