While Matakevich was a sp teams beast as well, did not produce much on the field. This signing more than makes up for his Sp teams play and gives added dimension for a running game that struggled last year. Great pick up.

I am actually happy for him, he did a job that few can or want to do, did it well for us. Obvious we could not pay that, so get your money and pension locked in this year and have fun.

I think Nix can still play, but trusting him to be healthy has become an issue. I think his injuries were a much bigger loss last season than people seem to realize. He was a hell of blocker and a force on special teams. Watt does all that and more. It looks like he will be the big free agent acquisition of the offseason for the Steelers and that is fine.

If they use him right he could be a weapon, look at what the 49ers do with their FB, he's not as good as Juszczyk though. I just hope they use him more than they did Nix.

Or off the team, he can't stay healthy either. Time to give someone else a chance.

I think he was one of the league leaders in special teams tackles but I think he's a decent blocker as well.

Is it possible if he put some more size that he could play inside Linebacker?

Has anybody seen what cutting Nix saves them on the cap? He had two years left on his contract. If I'm reading what I saw on sportrac correctly, his dead money hit would be $875,000 for 2020 and he was due to make $1.887 million this season, meaning a savings of about $1 million.

I see it as just giving some of TJs next contract money to his brother. Maybe TJ won't break the bank knowing we gave his little brother a break.
