 Maybe that is what they actually brought Aaron Rodger’s in to do. He will probably not last more than 8 games anyways.

Maybe, plus add the savings on electricity. Every room no lights.

    YET

In the end, our coaching sucksass so bad they'll never be able to coach up TJ and get the full potential out of him worth that amount

    ho hum

Maybe if Jack Sawyer shows something in camp and in the preseason, he will get playing time in the regular season to lessen Watt's snaps.

I hate this made up stat so freaking much I can barely articulate it. The first time I read Peter King's explanation of why Garrett was getting his vote for defensive MVP over Watt because of this stat my stomach almost jumped up my throat to strangle my brain. I wanted to respond to him with " let me get this straight, Watt led the league in every statistical benchmark and by your own admission you would have given him your vote except for this new made up stat that gives PFF another hair to split when making their arbitrary rankings? Are you serious?"

They will regret this. TJ on the sidelines in street clothes 5-7 games per season with some injury is the future. They already got the best of what he has to offer.

All for not if we don’t mix it up more on defense. We can’t continue to only rush 4 and in particular when they overload Watts side we need to combat that instead of just letting Watt be neutralized. Watt is to expensive to sacrifice like that. We need to blitz from the opposing side or even load up on Watts side to combat offenses that are going to commit to taking away Watt. In addition blitz the ILB’s more or the Nickel. Move Watt around more. We have the pieces to do that now with Jalen Ramsey and two of the fastest ILB’s in the league. Derrick Harmon should be a huge upgrade over Ogunjobi. Finally having CB’s that should be better in coverage should help the pass rush as well.

The amount of responses with a "can't wait to be able to say I told you so tone" is crazy to me.

Steelers are in a fine position to do this deal. While all the moves this off-season may not suit everyone, they have built a team that is better than last year and could very well make a run without mortgaging the future.

This is a good move for both parties. TJ belongs here and the Steelers couldn't let one of the all-time Steeler greats leave. That said, he's got his massive pay day... he's got to perform in the playoffs. Has to.

Hopefully, adding the way they did this offseason, the guys up front will be more fresh at the end of the season. Adding Harmon, Black, and Ekuale to the DL, along with Sawyer on the edge, might allow that.

Equally impressive is the magic beans trade him camp where the vocalize trading him for a haul of draft picks and lesser players. Because those deals work out well.

This would have never happened if the Browns didn’t reset the market in the first place. They keep doing this over and over again.

I'm content with Watt signing another contract with Steelers.... just hate that he will never win a Super Bowl as long as Popcorn is HC.

Glad he's staying. it would have made me a bit sick to see him in another uniform, especially the Ravens or Eagles. They obviously aren't of the mentality they need to re-build even though I think that would be wiser in the long run.

I asked if he was going to see a playoff win or not. But yes, a non QB player making that much does take away from other positions.

And yes, there's no denying his performance at the end of the season, dramatically dropped.

Last thing, I'll say is, why does it matter to be critical of a player? Specially when that player is making more than anyone on the team, and in fact more than any non QB player.

Agreed. I honestly question if he'll get to see a playoff win.

One good thing.... if Howell or a first round 2026 QB draft pick pans out, Watt's contract will be done and over when Steelers have to dish out the big bucks for a franchise QB.

    This is a good signing.
Not a fan of Omar and I think a better GM could have gotten it done quicker and better.
But that is speculation based off past history.
    Moving on.........

I am hoping to get this guy into a position to win.
I don't care for Austin's schema, and I know TJ has talked about "preferring the left side" but I think a little movement would not hurt him.
People are right when they talk about his fading in the playoffs. I think that is also a product of the Defense not pulling out some stops and doing something the offense isn't used to seeing.

Anyway, I'm glad to see TJ back and I hope it is a good year.
