It’s good that this is done before training camp. I wouldn’t be too concerned about the figures with the way the cap is expanding. Well done to him

Now if he can just decide to show up in a playoff game that would be good.

Good deal. I'm surprised by it only being 3 years, but this makes frontloading the deal less important. I'd still frontload it some. It'll be interesting looking at the details of this deal.

Sorry I think that is too much and he should have given a discount ... i'm serious. He could have settled for 36 million a season but his ego gets in the way. He does care about numbers. I care about playoff wins and he has zero.
Good player just upset he had to break the bank.
No win when it matters TJ.

He's about to turn 31 they were smart to only do a three year deal, he will be 35 when this new deal ends.

Oh I agree. It's really a team friendly in terms of the amount of years. I hope it's $50m the first two years and $23 the third. That way we'll have enough for a potential Jones, JPJ and Benton deals, as well as potentially guys like Trice and Herbig, and guys from the 24 draft class.

See players like Sidney Crosby are one in a million.
He takes about a 5 million pay cut every year to try to win.
Just would have been nice to see TJ do something similar since he never won anything.

and what has Crosby gained from that? I think the dollars are ridiculous but the owners are paying them. Difficult for me to hear an argument on players taking 'team friendly deals'.

Win for both sides. Except for length, TJ gets the numbers he wanted and we are not locked into a long contract for a player on the other side of 30.

Omar will juggle the numbers regardless, but your thinking is kinda off, for the latter 4 you mentioned (JPJ and Benton), if they show enough this year its best to try and get the new contract before the 4th year when they can test FA. Jones they have to make a decision after this year to either pick up his option or let him play out the 4th year. A lot can happen and unless Herbig and Trice go nuclear their deals can likely get done easily. You do not want to ge into a contract year trying to sign 4 players who can hit FA.

The number for TJ does not shock me, and likely they could get a void year or 3 by through manufacturing, I kinda wish they would have thrown some stupid number (non-guaranteed) into the fray to make his yearly average look like 45 or 50 million, heard Parsons say today he would be the highest paid when he signs his contract, might as well make Jerry pay the most bucks you can, lol.
