Garrett probably “heard” some of the voters use the n-word.

Agreed. But any ideas why politicking against TJ?

He’s a good character guy, great story, legacy name, talks to the media etc…

I can’t see what or why anyone would choose to be motivated politically against him.

Sick of the Watt name? He isn’t flashy and Blingy (gag) enough???

I am reading all these articles of him being in 3rd place, but without explanation as to why he trails.

I understand your point here and while I get it - what you are saying - I can’t help but disagree with the reality of it all.

If that is how individual awards are to be measured, then we the sports world, should only pay attention to the rushing title unless the RB is on a playoff and Championship favorite. Barry Sanders got out when the getting was good.

When sportswriters decide these awards the results are always going to be a bit flawed and there is going to be an element of bias and popularity contest about it. Im not saying they don’t often get it right but it’s not a good way to decide these things.

For DPOY, polling a selection of NFL defensive staff or something along those lines would be much better, people who actually understand the game below the surface.

The press is very important to the NFL so I dont expect it’ll ever change however. Unfortunately a player like TJ on a marginal team has to stand head and shoulders above everyone to win the award, to the point where it would be ludicrous to give it to anybody else.

The league is all about promoting specific individual players because that is how they gain more fans and it is all about monetizing your assets. In addition could it perhaps be about race? I hate to bring that up but the league after all is extremely woke and political now. The league has lost its integrity a long time ago. Don’t you see how they go out of their way to promote and protect their star QB’s. Well you can’t have enough stars so why not add another ... different DPOY. The new generation of fans follow players more than they do teams now so adding stars to the league or creating stars is good for the league.

Yeah… let’s not go down that path. It may seem innocuous to you, but it usually leads to heated and nasty arguments on the board. It’s why politics and race are subjects that are not allowed on the board. If you feel that way, take the discussion somewhere else. Thanks.

Nope, I disagree on the race bit completely and I think your political biases are taking the lead in your analysis. 1st) It’s displayed in using the nauseating term “woke”. And 2nd by completely ignoring that the last two DPOY awards went to Watt and Bosa respectively. The league taking a stand and outwardly displaying a campaign to end racism is not a bad thing to me.

I understand (and dislike!) the theory (or conspiracy) that they have pre anointed stars they are trying to bestow these awards to more than anything else. They HAD to give it to TJ after that crazy sack season and IMO took away a legit sack from him in the final game to could NOT beat Strahan’s padded record.

The QB protection rules I am mostly on board with. I know they are a business and the nature of the game means that the starting QB is the most important player on the field and they want to display and protect every teams best product every week on TV. I want my QB operating a full abilities if it can be helped. But even I admit that they often go faarrrr to far in throwing flags at defenders.

But yeah, spreading the award around probably does fluff the business while diminishing the weight of the award. Total BS.

A lot of times it’s not against someone, the agenda is more like who they’re for then the picture becomes more clear. Who are they promoting and why?

Like I said ....it's about who they want to promote, and they will change the rules to fit the player. They have Lamar Jackson leading in MVP, but He actually leads in nothing. Then they will say we'll He's more important to His team..1st .....what starting Qb is not important to their teams??
2nd....I don't care how You slice it.....they have won games He not only didn't score one single td, but also had turnovers in....., and We make fun of KFP for this. Hell He's 10 th in total tds...I had to go total tds.....because Hes like 16 th in passing tds...., and 5th in total yards, and I'm giving Him total yards....because it's not even close passing...his like 15th in that. If this isn't a double standard.....I don't know what the hell is.
He leads in nothing....except for MVP votes. LoL

I expect Lamar will win it and he is almost getting it by default, they were talking up Purdy, then Dak, then Purdy again. Both fell on their faces in big games and now we are back to Lamar, mostly because the Ravens are having an excellent season.

Lamar is playing well but isn’t lighting the league on fire, and his offence is ‘good’ at best. The Ravens are the most balanced team in the NFL, all three phases are strong, and that’s why they are where they are.

There is no standout candidate for MVP, there is an unwritten rule that it has to be an QB and somebody has to win it.

He's leading the MVP vote because most other QB's are having down years. MVP is who is most valuable to their team. Lamar makes that team click. He helps make the running game strong because someone so often needs to account for him. There's probably nobody more valuable to their team this year than Jackson

And once again, the NFL doesn't decide DPOY. The associated press does

Well I guess Ben should have won the MVP in 2004.. instead of P. Manning then. LoL. No P. Manning won because of like 2nd in yards, and 1st in tds....like it goes almost every single year....even the Year Lamar Jackson won it the 1st time. Now they will skip all that. So he has a chance again. Sorry if it went to just the Qb on the team with the best record....lots of other Qbs would have won it before, but Hey let's Change what it takes now......

So all the other Qbs that won because they had more yards , and tds every year should have their MVPs taken away??? Because that's why they won them, but apparently for this Year You don't think so.
So who is more valuable....the Qb with the team that wins even if He doesn't score, and turns the ball over, or the Qb that team only wins when when He scores. Hell this shouldn't be a question, but I'm sure You will make it more difficult than it is.

So lets hear who should win it over him this year. I don't care about small sample sizes or previous years.
It's not difficult for anyone who isn't a bumbling retard. If you say he shouldn't win, then name people who are more deserving.

LoL. 1st sign of You are wrong....again.....You must resort to name calling. I asked a simple couple of Questions, and You knew answering them truthfully would not be with Lamar, and now You are upset. LoL
I would bet You have a job You can lord over people....because You get so upset if someone even just tries questioning You.
