Wasn’t that on-sides kick illegal?

He was past the ball before his back foot made contact. It looked slick but seems like it should have drawn an offsides penalty.

No they give kickers that little grace area for their plant foot anyway on normal kicks.

2 be honest I was thinking the same, but:shrug:
Every time I turn around there is a different rule in kicking.

    It’s not illegal.

…the kicker may be beyond the line, provided that his kicking foot is not beyond the line.

It was cute but seemed like some low percentage crap to me. Not that the game wasn't already over.

What is the letter of the law that makes it against the rules?

Except his kicking foot hasn't passed the ball yet. That's why I asked what the written rule was that's supposedly being broken

100% legal in the letter of the rule:

    1. All kicking team players must be inbounds and behind the ball when it is kicked, except:
      1. the holder of a placekick (3-18-1-Item 2) may be beyond the line, and
      2. the kicker may be beyond the line, provided that his kicking foot is not beyond the line.

Not Me. LoL. I don't ignore anyone. If I don't like what they say I either discuss it, or move on my way.

If his kicking foot is beyond the line, how would he kick the ball?

You saw how with the onside kick he attempted. His plant foot went past the ball and he kicked the ball with his back foot.

the kicking foot is whatever foot he kicks the ball with, it doesn’t matter which foot it is.
