Not really, no, it isn't. Rudolph is a former third-round pick who has been in the league since 2018, a guy the entire league didn't want as a backup this past offseason. Pickett is a former first-round pick one game into his second season. I'm sorry so many people on this board don't understand the difference.

Just because a player has potential/upside doesn't mean he will become great, or even good. It just means there are possibilities. To anybody truly paying attention, that is not the case with Rudolph.

 

I didn’t think he was a first rd QB and still don’t think he should have been selected there besides his Pitt connection and us needing a QB. This isn’t the ACC where defense is optional. He will certainly get the rest of this season and maybe next as well but if they wait for him to develop like he did at Pitt the Steelers will continue to be irrelevant for likely the next decade.

 

Defense optional is most of college football these days, in case you haven't noticed. (And clearly, you haven't.) I'm sorry your observations are outdated.

You bring up Pitt connection as if it were a fan service thing. They knew the guy better than any other team. Plenty of quarterbacks took longer than a game into their second season to develop. You just made up your mind ahead of time and confirmation bias has taken over.
