am i the only one that is watching Wallace and thinking he isnt all there?

im wondering if his contract is on his mind and isnt giving it a 100%. he seems to be playing with too much caution and not trying to get after it.

when you watch Brown and Sanders, they are giving it everything they have on every play. it seems like Wallace is giving up on plays.

there were a couple times where he was interferred with, but instead of fighting for the catch he just gave up and started looking for the flag.

dont get me wrong. i love Wallace and know how important he is to the team, but if he is more worried about his payday or lack of payday right now, than Sanders needs to get more playing time in his place.

that play where Ben floated it out to him should have been a catch and probably a td. i know Brown dropped a td, but he was in full stride and was doing everything he could to pull it in.

just watching Wallace so far has bugged me. either give it a 100% or sit.

LOL! Don't get me started on Wallace. A lot of my MB friends think I've :beathorse: on him anyway.

In my opinion I believe this is what happens when you miss the entire preseason. The timing just doesn't seem to be there yet between him and Ben. It wouldn't be in Wallace's best interest to be giving up on plays if he wants a big pay day next year. Again I think it's just that his timing is off with Ben. It will improve and you will see much more from him soon.

I think the same could be said for all our receivers yesterday. :glare:

That's true. I remember being really excited about Brown and Sanders last year, and this year I haven't even noticed either of them much, except of course for Brown's huge fumble. I wasn't focusing on the negative, it's just that he hasn't really stood out as much this year.

Maybe my memory is fuzzy on this but hasn't Wallace played very well up until yesterday? As for the OP's comment, I wouldn't doubt it is on his mind about getting injured, and it was raining yesterday, he may have been playing a little more cautious.

Wallce played well against the Bronocos,Jets, and Raiders. He had a bad day yesterday. If anything I was disappointed that he gave up on routes, and on the 4th down heave to the endzone, he didn't even try to catch it or prevent the defender from trying to catch, it was like he just watched.

I think perception of "effort" is almost entirely in the eye of the beholder. Likewise "fear" etc. Sometimes you can see it - body language is really obvious. When you're just watching a player catch balls or not, it has to be way obvious to make that call with any certainty. And with Wallace, even if you might suspecti it, it is not "way" obvious.

I would have to re-watch the game (which I don't particularly want to) to see about giving up and looking for the flag. What I have noticed is that receivers around th eleague seem to be moving slowly towards this, and it's very, very irritating. One of the problems with soccer, in fact, is the amount of appeals to the ref that goes on. Appealing to the ref to throw a flag is disrespect to the referee, pure and simple - it's telling him how to do his job.

Then again, after Sunday, perhaps the refs need this...

The key for Wallace, and he knows it, is to stay healthy.

You see, he knows he will get a huge payday either from the Steelers or from FA. But, he will not get a huge contract if he is hurt, say a season ending injury. So, in watching him, he does look to be holding back a bit, but as I have said from day one, Wallaces' big problem is that he cannot catch at a top 5 level WR.

He is mailing it in from what it looks like right now. He is most likely still pissed and he does have to look across the line and see Brown and know that he got a huge payday and I'm sure it irks him.

So, from my seat he is being tempermental at this point.

You people are insane. He had 3 great games, one bad one, and all the sudden he's "not all there." He's outplayed any of our WR's at this point.

I'm not sure what Wallace dropping a pass that hit him in the hands has to do with timing being off from missing camp. He just blew it on that play, plain and simple.

You can compain about Wallace and your disapointment in his production if you want but:

in 2012, Wallace as 19 rec for 251 yds and 3 tds, which over a course of a season extrapolates to 76 Rec, 1004 yd and 12 tds.

The most receptions Wallace ever had in a year was 72 last yr, the most yards 1257 in 2010 and1193 in 2011, most TD's 10 in 2010.

Wallace may be dissapointment, but he's on track to have the same kind of season that he's had that last 2.

Methinks, people are trying to convince themselves that it won't be a big deal when he leaves for elsewhere next off season. Unfortunately I think it will be a big deal.

Brown has dropped more passes than Wallace this season, yesterday there were plenty of drops by the receivers. Wallace haters just looking for a excuse to bash him and Brown cost the Steelers against the Raiders fumbling at midfield does that mean he's not all in.

Wallace hasn't really caught any of his go pattern bombs that we had become used to seeing until the second half of last season. Maybe he is getting frustrated with that.

Wallace had a really bad game. He dropped alot of passes he should have caught easily. I though Brown improved over last week. He wasn't over celebrating first downs and he held onto the ball. I'm hoping they both have great games againt the Titans.

i am far from being a Wallace hater. i know how important he is to this team and to the success of the other wr's, but when he is only giving 50% which is what it looked like on Sunday, than thats a real problem.

his money issues are his issues, but once he came back its his job to give 100%.

if hes worried about getting hurt, than he should have stayed home.

I'd be inclined to send Wallace to the Jets, who'd likely give up two 2nd round picks and a 3rd. The Jets are that desperate right now.

Part of it is that in Haley`s offense you have to run the enitre route tree it is no longer just tell Wallace to run pass everyone and Ben throw it as far as he can. I am not sure that he will get the Fitz type deal we heard he wants but I am sure he will be a steeler next season cause they franchise tag him. Draft a replacement in 3rd or 4th round next season.

Part of what? Part of the fact that he has been playing well up to now on short, intermediate and long routes?

Part of the fact that he dropped a pass in his hands, which seems to be the root cause of the complaints here?

Part of the fact that because Mendenhall had a good game we now have to find another player to berate for doing a whole lot of stuff he doesn't in fact do?

Seriously. He still had only half as many drops as Brown did on Sunday, and I believe Brown has a few more on the season as well. Brown's fumble was one of the top reasons we lost against Oakland. And Mike has 3 times as many touchdowns. I'm not complaining about either one of them, but I find it curious that there are really only complaints about Wallace. Wait, I don't find that curious. What's the word I want? Oh, predictable.

We haven't been going deep as often as we used to, especially with Wallace, which is why his average is so far down. Both guys could be playing better. The mistakes at this point are stupid things like fumbles and drops. That's the kind of thing that can be cleaned up, and neither guy has much of a history with those problems. It's not as bad as it would be if they just disappeared or couldn't get open. I'm pretty glad we have both guys.
