This pisses me off, I guess he really does want Fitz money. 5 years for 50 mil is on par with Vincent Jackson and more then what Santonio Holmes makes. Pfft, take a hike Mike.

"The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review is reporting that wide receiver Mike Wallace turned down a five-year deal in the range of $50 million from the Steelers. Wide receiver Antonio Brown agreed to a five-year, $42 million extension Friday."

Who does Mike Wallace think he is? He's not nearly worth as much as Fitzgerald or Calvin Johnson. If he think he's worth that money, either trade him, or let him sit home.

Not surprised. I thought 5 years 50 mill would be possible for him to sign but not probable. Someone else can pay him more and we gladly will let him go. He isn't nearly worth that.

If he turned down 10 million a year he is getting bad advise or he is an idiot. I thought 8 million a year was to high, but since we gave brown that it seems wallace is gone. no way we can have that much tied up in 2 wrs and I doubt wallace will take any less than that now

I heard his agent advised him to take it and the problem is him.

According to the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, unsigned restricted free agent Mike Wallace has taken the lead from agent Bus Cook on the decision to sit out training camp practices.
Cook is known for taking extreme measures for his clients, but Wallace is "driving the bus" on this one. Per beat writer Ed Bouchette, it's the reason his relationship with the organization "has taken a new turn." Wallace will now have to sign his $2.742 million tender before the team will consider resuming negotiations on a long-term deal. The Steelers could opt to sign a veteran free agent to put more pressure on Wallace.

Just read that he's looking for Vincent Jackson type money. He got 5 year/$55 million (and change) money which is about $11 million per year.

i think i'll wait and see what happens before i believe he turned down the 5/50 mil... reports are wrong all the time.. just liek when they said he signed for 5 years 42.5 mil.. they had the right amount but the wrong player.. shows you how much they know.

I really think they offered that to Wallace first. If he turned that down my guess is he really wants Fitzgerald money

Exactly. With the internet/etc anyone can start a rumor/report something/etc. So until it comes from the team/etc then take it with a grain of salt. Also those people who are saying wow 50 mil contract is 10 mil a yr...if you divide it out yes...but the contracts are gonna be structured different where his pay will increase over time...it wont be a flat 10 mil each year...*smh*.

Well obviously Browns contract wasn't good enough for him, and since they couldn't come to an agreement you can be pretty sure that he wants more then 5/50 *smh*

Exactly! If they offered that to Brown, then you can be sure they "at least" offered it to Wallace. Even if you go conservative and say they only offered him $45 mil. You already know it can't be the first year money that he's working, since the whole League knows what the Steelers have on tap at this point.

Well they gave AB 42+, so 50 sounds about right by adjusting his worth to another years salary crammed into the same contract/time frame.

I think the real critical issue here and what really flamed the FO is not the fact that he didn't bite @ that kind of money. Rather, he couldn't even take the time, effort, and yes pride to show up for work with the latest offer. In other words, "Sorry no STeelers, that's not enough but you're getting close and it's respectable so here I am @ camp ready to work, now how much?"

Wallace has a special skillset. He's a Super speedster and has good hands. His numbers speak loudly and there are teams that will pay for it. Just not us. No need to be mad at him for trying to get all he can, just let him get it somewhere else. I've said all along he can leave and was hoping some-one would match his offer. Our best hope now is some-one like the Raiders or Dallas is willing to trade for him. Just need to get more than a 5th rder this time.

Let me get this right....he's holding out for 5mil because S.D overpaid Vincent Jackson? His career will be much better then jaclsons if he stay with the Steelers. I thought they had offered him chump change but that's a great contract being that we were strapped.

The way he ended the second half of the season, shows he does not deserve this kind of money. Yes, I know many will say he was double covered and he opened it up for A.B., but the best receivers still make plays even when triple covered! (Look at Megatron in Detroit. The defense knows he is going to get the ball thrown to him and he still makes plays.)

I look at it like this, as much as I liked having Wallace make plays, I don't want any self-absorbed, "me"-first players, over the team. If he wants that much money he knows someone else is going to have to be hurt because of it. Does he care if his new contract makes our defense weaker because next year we might have to release Harrison or Troy to handle his insane contract? Or, it could greatly affect our offense. He was willing to have us give him that money so most likely we couldn't resign Antonio Brown or E. Sanders when they need new deals next year.

I believe I read today (I don't remember where) that as of right now we are 15 million over the cap for next year. Imagine who else would have to go just to give Wallace what he wants.

If you ask me, we signed the right guy to the long term contract. A.B. is all about working hard, showing up on time, not running his mouth, and striving to get even be better.

I do have to say I think Wallace is more of a game changer than Vincent Jackson, but Jackson also probably got overpaid what he is really worth to a team, and in there lies the dilemma.

Well the brown thing tells me two things first brown really wants to be here it took two days to work out his deal also the Steelers think brown will be the better option in the long run considering he never hit the rfa market unlike Wallace. Here we sit again with a ward and Plax situation one is a team guy who puts in all the work loves the team and the city and the other is all about himself. I'm sure one more year and brown could have gotten more money. Its to early to tell but brown could be in the convo for top 5 Steelers wrs all time. The work he puts in is awesome and I would love to bring his brother in if we can pick him up late in the draft or ufa. He listens to ant hell he was getting in trouble and brown told him you are going to PITT and you will live here year round. My top three favs right now are troy Ben and brown. i think brown took everything ward taught him to heart and well imo Wallace not only didn't want to but couldn't. I was talking to my step sis and she is very good friends with coach Kirby in fact they went out to dinner right before camp started with all the other position coaches and the general observations on Wallace was his routes are good and he gets confused with option routes. One more thing none of the position coaches like Haley very much.

The longer he holds out the lower his value. If he sits out most of the year, then sits on the bench or is inactive, his value next season will be a fraction of what I expect the Steelers offered him now. Sit out a year and you just loose something. Add to that out of sight and out of mind.

WOW- Who does this character think he is? 10 Million a year and he does not take it? Sorry Mike. The Steelers Brink truck just left your doorstep and pulled up to Antonio Browns house. Good luck with your career. Hopefully, you will end up on some lowly team and never sniff a Championship ever again. This is why I avoid buying players jerseys. Here one minute, gone the next.

10 million a year for Wallace was plenty and I'm glad that's where the Steelers stopped, that's a fair deal.

I was just on the nfl.com site and saw a funny tweet by some John Madden impersonator. It said "Mike Wallace has been demanding Larry Fitzgerald like money, while Antonio Brown is satisfied with Mike Wallace money" :lolol:
