I guess it depends on what Jerry Rice considers impact. Just having him on the field and having defenses accounting for him is impact in a big way. If impact is catches then Jerry might have an argument but don't think for one moment that Bens two minute offense like he pulled off in Buffalo wont have Mike involved :)

Thought the Steelers had swept all their offers off the table. Wondered before this if that meant they'd be back at square #1 when negotiations resumed but my thought got lost in that thread.

not only wallace this year, but rainey and AB. they have to account for all 3. sanders should be covered by the worst cover guy a team has after these 3. he should have big games. welcome back mike. i like mike. he makes us alot better.

No, not necessarily. Both sides already know where they stand. There is no reason for them not to pick up right where they left off.

We really do have a depth at WR this year and I like the many options Ben has. Offensively I think we have a good year .. Better then the last few and by better I mean we should light up the scoreboard :) The pass to Dwyer in the Buffalo game was a shock for me because of the distance. Most running backs do not get thrown to when they are 30 yards down field lol

    Edit: Don't forget about 89 :)

i agree. he and sanders will be key performers this year, because of who has to cover them. as should heath, and i think haley is not using heath right now because he doesn't want to show it yet. the only bad part is all the help they have to give starks, takes him out of his real game.

Jerry Rice is one of my favorite players of all time and was a hero of mine growing up, and he's also a really nice guy, but he hasn't been able to keep a job on TV for a reason. Okay, that reason is that he sucks on camera. But in this case I believe he's wrong. As others have said, his presence on the field alone will be impact. And his detractors are quick to say he only runs one or two routes anyway. I'm sure he's been practicing at least one of them.

Maybe it will be week 4 or 5 before his first 100 yard game. Maybe it will be week 4 or 5 before he's playing as well as he was last year. I really have no idea what to expect. But I expect him to draw big coverage right away, and make some catches too. Is any defense really going to cover him with one guy, thinking, "Oh, don't worry about him -- he missed training camp!" I don't think so.

    :this!: :rocksign:

I have no doubt he may suffer from a few timing issues. But it's not like he spent all of this time sitting on his couch.

I know one thing though. When he has his first drop, which he will, this board is going to explode bigger than when Mendenhall fumbles.

What does being able to keep a TV job have to do with playing football, knowing football?
this is funny. HOF/possibly the best WR of all time. And you guys are questioning his opinion.
    VERY FUNNY.

I was making that point too, I think Jerry knows a little something about playing the WR position :hmmm: Can't just send him deep all the time, going to have to run routes, and that will probably take him some time to get down. He may not be very effective the first several weeks but I bet Brown will be, he'll benefit greatly from Wallace being on the field.

Questioning his opinion is very funny? Based on his credentials? He's not possibly the best receiver of all time, he's far and away the best receiver of all time. That doesn't make him right. In fact, depending how you take his remarks, he's blatantly and undeniably wrong. What kind of idiot takes opinion as fact just because the guy saying it was good at what he did? Even if that's what he's talking about! Hell, nowadays basically every single guy on TV talking about football used to play it or coach it, and used to be really really good at it. They don't pick the smartest guys or the guys who speak the truth or the guys who know what they're talking about. They pick the biggest names they can get. Warren Sapp played DL. I guess we shouldn't question his opinion about our DL. How funny of us. In related news, our DL is gonna suck this year because we don't have any good nose tackles.
