    From top to bottom!!!!

I'm retired Military and you can't tell me the Coach is off the hook on this.. If as a leader and a warrior i put this product on the field of battle and asked them to perform and i set back and showed no emotiomn or showed no heart and expect that they would come out triumphant i would tell you my friend that you are delusional.

SteelWarrior, thanks for your service man, I'm currently in the Marines and I have been in this gun club for 22 years, sometimes it's not the leader but instead it's the troops, Tomlin did'nt cause that fumble nor did he cause all those drops. I don't have an answer for ya but man the entire needs to look in the mirror.

On another note SteelWarrior, don't compair what we go through on a "Real Battle Field " to these athletes that are over paid. If these guys lose a game, it has no effect on how we live today but if WE lose..................standby. ;)

Amazing use of the double standard, when the Steelers win its all about what a great coaching job Tomlin did, when the Steelers loose its every one elses fault. Same thing was true with post about Ariens, with wins it was all about Tomlin, with losses Ariens was thrown under the bus. Sorry, cant have it both ways. The problem with this team is that the Head Coach is to blame, no one else.

I sure hope the Steelers don't become like so many other organizations and start having knee-jerk coach firing reactions for every season that doesn't go well.

The Steelers have been a symbol of stability, and they've stuck with coaches knowing that there are going to be ups and downs, and knowing that there will be times of learning and growing into something more. So many teams fire a coach every year or two if things aren't perfect, and look where it gets them.

Good teams are grown and built. My parents didn't throw me out when I wasn't able to walk the first two or three times they tried to get me to. They let me learn from my mistakes so I would have stability.

I'm not saying at all that a team should blindly keep a bad coach around forever, but good grief, being great often takes time. Look how long it took Cowher to win his SB. I'm sure the Rooney's were glad that they kept him around long enough to learn and grow into what he became.

Sorry, players are paid to execute and they simply havn't been. Not that the coaching staff doesn't share some of the blame (play calling and preparation) but if a player drops a ball or a QB throws a pick, it's on them.

Let's not forget that the most emotionless coach in our history won us 4 championships. Like all great leaders he knew that cheerleading and yelling at players didn't win you games. Preparation and practice free up players to react instinctively to what they see with violence. Cowher was very emotional and that got us lots of regular season success but only one SB win. Today's players with the focus on personal recognition and getting paid do not have the discipline of yesterday's. These are team wins and team losses - top down. If Tomlin is to be blamed for anything its not a lack of emotion its lack of finding a way to focus his team on what's important. And one last thing - don't forget the team on the other side are all paid professionals too with the same expectations we have for our team. The better prepared team will usually win.

horse puckey. noll would yank bradshaw at a moments notice. yes he did show emotion on the sidelines with his players when they screwed up. noll fired many a coordinator.

just because we hired a coach and don't get rid of many doesn't mean we always make the right choice. it took cowher 15 years to win a SB. he built that team to finally win with the qb that he didn't want and was overuled by the rooney's. yes MT has benifited from the building of that team. now that more of his players are here, it's going the other way.

colbert also had help building this team with cowhers help. MT and colbert on their own, not so much. it's a mess right now.

oh and by the way noll didn't have FA to deal with. that's alot of the reason for quicker coaching turnover nowdays. ben may have 5 more years of good football in him. we can't continue to wait or it will be to late.

Strange. I've seen it the exact opposite. When the Steelers win, all the credit goes to everyone but Tomlin. Hell, it even goes to Cowher.

When the Steelers lose, it's always about Tomlin this and Tomlin that with thread after thread mocking his speaking style.

What's really interesting is that the overall opinions on this board on many topics contrast greatly to what you hear from fans at the stadium and around the city.

Exactly, but it's always easier to target the HC. Our players have been stinking out the joint. I've never seen so many drops, fumbles, miss tackles, it's embarrassing.

Yes, it does. Which is why I am glad fans don't run the team.

I too served 14 years in the US Army two years in Vnam, and the top commanders were aloof as well, but I know when a battle is is being lost because of those leaders who are leading from the rear, and this team is pretty much leaderless, and they are far from a playoff caliber team and I give them little chance of winning their two remaining games, they arent the road warriors that the 05 team was: It's pretty bad when you have no faith in them winning two games at home, and I dont think they will, even if they do winning their first playoff game in Denver or New England is totaly an impossibility after watching them lose to a crappy team like Dallas on the road, stick a fork in em they are done.....

Mac, I respect you from way back on the old board but i gotta call BS on this one. You can't tell me that Noll is closer on the emotional scale to Cowher than MT. The point of the original post was an emotionless coach being an issue. I don't buy that...never have. MT is probably to blame for a few other things but i'll take a cool head over uncontrolled emotion any day on a battle field.

I agree that Tomlin didnt cause the fumble, drop the pass, go off side etc.....ask yourself the question: Under Tomlin's watch, what has he done to correct it? These have been problems occuring all to much lately... Your either part of the problem or part of the solution.

How can you coach an NFL WR to catch a ball that hits him in the hands? That stuff was taught to them when they were in Pee Wee football.

    Agree.

Jerome Bettis was on NFL Radio on Sirius with Ross Tucker this morning and pretty much said the exact same thing regarding the turnovers. Ross asked him what to do to fix it and Bettis said "I don't know how you can."

Noll had players who were underachievers and slackers watch form the sidelines untill it sunk into their heads he ment business. Stpo making excuses for Tomlins lack of accountibility.

Okay, so they should deactivate Brown, Sanders, Wallace, Mendenhall, Dwyer, and Redman. Now let me ask you this, who is Ben going to throw to and who is going to run the ball?
