I was looking at some stats for the 1976 Steelers, the year the defense only gave up 28 points in 9 games to finish the season. Let's play Steelers trivia.

    Here's the rules:

If you get the question wrong you get two points. The first person to give the correct answer gets one point and Google gets a point. If a person proves the correct answer was the wrong answer, he gets 3 points. If you ask a trivia question you get a point. The next question cannot be asked until the previous one is answered. If you get two questions wrong, you are eliminated, just like Mike Tomlin challenges. If a question is asked and not answered in a 24 hour period, the questioner gets 3 points, if they provide the answer. This contest ends next Friday evening at 11:59 pm, EDT.

    LET'S PLAY

    1. How many touchdown passes did Mike Kruczek throw in 1976 during his 6-game win streak?

    Scoring:

    Mytake 1 point

I took 3 years of Calculus and beyond and 4 courses in Physics and am having trouble following this challenge. But I regress - since Mike K score 0 points all the 1976 season, I'll guess that he also threw 0 TD's during the 6 game stretch.

Not sure when I'm eligible if at all to ask another question but how did the Steelers manage to lose WR Buddy Dial and what/who, if anything, did they get in return?

Correct - Kruczek had 0 touchdown passes during his 6 game stretch in 1976. He did have 2 rushing Tds. In fact, he had 0 TD passes for his career.

    Scoring:

    Mytake - 1 point
MojaveDesertPghFan - 2 pts. (includes trivia question #2)
    Google - 1 point

Here is the next trivia question

    2. How did the Steelers manage to lose WR Buddy Dial and what/who, if anything, did they get in return?

Dang, didn't look at the stats close enough to see Mike K rushed for 2 TD's that season. Noticed that Lambert had 8 fumble recoveries that year - not too shabby. To find the answer to Trivia Question #2, you might have to either find some cave petroglyphs or consult the Dead Sea Scrolls, there were barely newspapers back when Buddy Dial was catching passes from Bobby Layne and Ed Brown.

They traded him to the Cowboys, but got nothing back because the guy the Cowboys offered signed with the AFL instead.

Ill go with an easier one:

In the 1974 draft, who was the highest pick the Steelers made who is not currently on the Hall of Fame?

Has to be the consummate Renaissance man himself, Glen Edwards. ;) How about Ray Mansfield?

I repeat what I said earlier with the Kruzcek question. Jimmy Allen was a 4th round pick and not in the HOF, we better keep Dobbs then.

Jimmy, whom I've known for about 10 years now, is quite proud of his 74 draft status- he was actually an All American that year at UCLA where he had some memorable clashes with Lynn Swann.
The reason why he dropped in that draft is because he was perceived as a "tweener"- actually too big to be an NFL corner in those days but too small to play at LB. His NFL career flourished once he was traded to Detroit and moved to safety, where he had 9 picks in 1981.

I have a brutal trivia question that is a favorite of mine if anyone wants to pursue it further.
