How did I miss this last year???

This show is flipping awesome! Not historically accurate by any means - although they do get some of the cultural aspects and broad strokes more or less right. But then again, when your main character is the Nordic version of King Arthur (Epic figure of lore more legendary than factual), what can one expect? (it's still grounded in reality)

That said, the show is brilliant. Like Game of Thrones? You'll love this. Like Black Sails? You'll love it. hell, if you like the Sopranos, Excaliber or even Sons of Anarchy, you'll love this show.

I know I've pimped shows here before. But this time, I'm even more serious. Watch. This. Show.

Season 2 starts in 2 weeks or so. In the meantime, if you get On Demand, The History Channel's On Demand has the entire first season available (free of course). It's only 9 episodes, and with all of the commercial breaks already cut out, you're looking at 42-45 minutes per episode. Started watching last night and I'm already up to episode 8 (time flies when you're engrossed). Actually debating just staying up a little longer and finishing the last 2 episodes.

I've been curious about this, but have never allowed myself the time to check it out. I thought it was purely historical, though. Didn't realize it was a drama of the kind you're referencing. I'm in.

I've also wondered about it myself.

Since it's on public TV, language is kept to a minimum. BUT, it is pretty violent, and there's some "adult content" (nothing graphic). I'd say it's suitable for most people and kids 16 and up, depending on their individual maturity of course.

The second season starts up 2/27/14. So there's still plenty of time to get caught up.

Is there a way I can watch the 1st season before the 2nd one? I have Direct Tv and not on-demand but if it was on Amazon Prime I could use my free trial to watch this because I'm sure it wouldn't take 30 days. Do you know if it's on there? Also when we get time we need to play some Black Flag multi because I've got it but just haven't had time to really dig in to it and when I had surgery I just didn't really fell like gaming because I was so nauseous. But I've played the first couple of missions and I can tell I'm gonna love it. As far as the content I appreciate the heads up. I don't really mind the fighting and things but I just try and avoid the bad language and nudity and sexual things and stuff like that. I've heard Game of Thrones is a great story but I've also heard it's pretty pornographic. That seems to be the case for a lot of things on HBO so I'm always glad when the History Channel or A&E or AMC gets something good that I can watch. I REALLY love Hannibal if you've never seen it. GREAT acting in it.

(Hey, I've been cooped up for 2+ weeks not allowed to do much. So I'll take any form of entertainment with great joy)

    How did this thread die?

In Norse mythology, Odin is often referred to as "The Wanderer."

    Just saying... ;)
