We have been missing a veteran WR presence for quite some time. A few weeks back JuJu Smith-Schuster commented he learned more this year under Andy Reed than he has in 5 years in Pittsburgh. I know the argument whether it is Tomlin can be made. However, in JuJu's defense, he had AB when he was drafted, not the best Veteran leadership you want on your team. In only his 3rd season, he was now the veteran leader. All the critics of his maturity may be that all in all, football was fun. He had fun with it and was a great receiver. We have been missing the veteran leadership like Hines provided as well as a few others. We may be lacking that for sometime. Hopefully someone can step up with the work ethic needed which is more than just God-gifted ability.

DJ is in his 4th year. I think that is considered veteran by now?

I said the same thing, but they never signed a vet before the season. They made their bed.

We could have used a Jerricho Cotchery type signing.

I know what you mean, but I'm more so speaking that his leader and mentor was JuJu. While DJ is now a veteran in tenure, neither he nor JuJu had a veteran WR to lean on for experience. Unfortunately, it is a vicious cycle.

There’s no veteran presence on the O at all. DJ is the oldest starter - at 26. Hopefully at some point one of them can step up, but they’re all too young to be trusted leaders.

Been a problem for a while. I was hoping we could lure Larry Fitzgerald out of retirement when he hung it up a couple years ago, but didn't happen. Guess he wanted to go out on top of his game, not a fading player/assistant coach. But there are others out there.........Cotchery was the best recent example, I think. Not a diva, just a hard-working reliable player.

Hines coming back as a wr coach would be great.

Don't be waiting for Hines Ward or Heath Miller guy to come along. Not sure those guys exist in the NFL today.

DJ maybe considered a veteran, but he is not a leader. Very average wr. Too inconsistent. As much as i hate to say it, offense fell off the map when AB and Leveon left the Steelers.
