Sammy Hager, Joe Satriani, Micheal Anthony and Jason Bonham on the skins! What do you guys think of this?

They are inviting Diamond Dave and Alex Van Halen to join them too. Do you think Wolfgang Van Halen will also make an appearance? Im kinda stoked for this!

If Wolfgang and Alex were in from the start maybe, depending on price. But I have no interest in seeing Van Halen with no Van Halens in the band.

Last interview I saw with Sammy snd Mike, neither had had any contact with Alex. Both claimed they reached out but no response.
Wolfgang is already doing some VH stuff with his touring band. I’d rather see them if I got the choice.

I’ve seen it billed as a tribute tour.

I will watch. I've actually seen everyone doing it already in other bands, or by themselves. They're all pretty good musicians.

Hell no....if they are making money doing what they love .....more power to them. A musician has to make a living some way, and if people are paying to see them....well that's all the reason to keep playing. It's like the Stones. I won't buy their new album, but if they come close enough, and don't ask too much....I'll go see them.

Van Halen without Van Halen? Brilliant! How about the E street band without Springsteen? The Revolution without Prince? The Silver Bullet Band without Seger? Milli without Vanilli?

I was sitting here thinking, with Eddie gone and no Alex, wouldn't it really be Chickenfoot?

Then I remembered that it would still be fun, so does it matter?

3/4 of the band are replacements. If they want to form a new band and make new music then go for it, but to tour as VH is just a money grab

How can they tour under the Van Halen name with no Van Halens in the band. Unless they don't own the rights to the name.

Of course it's a money grab, but...nobody is forcing people to go see it. It's like Skynyrd....They have been touring forever on family members, and acquaintance. I probably won't buy anything, but as a musician....if they asked Me to tour with them.....I'd say yes. Doing what You Love ,and getting paid for it. That's all their really doing.

The band themselves? At least that's honest.

I get it. It's more of a "Van Halen tribute" tour. Something went missing in their messaging. Just poor marketing?

But like everyone is saying, they're all damned good musicians. If they want to tour playing essentially covers, who cares? It'll still be a good time.

I'm excited, and they aren't touring as Van Halen, because they aren't Van Halen. Sammy and Mike are doing a tribute since nobody else is. Sammy said they'd do maybe 10% his songs, and 90% VH songs, but as mentioned, they've asked Dave and Alex to join in, but also invited other musicians in the cities they are playing in to join them at individual shows.

I've seen VH live 4 times, twice with Sammy, once with Gary, and once with Dave. I know this won't be the same, but it will still be fun, and it will be the closest thing to a real VH show now that Eddie is gone. Satriani will honor and respect Eddie's playing.

Here's a clip they did on Howard Stern the other day:

I put this in another thread. Sammy is getting old. Can't hear his grandkids is how he put it. He can no longer drive his Ferrari so he is selling it for around 2 million if you are interested;)

I'm sure I'm the only human who has one of Sammy's albums in their top 5 all time. Way back machine to the 70's. Sammy was lead singer in a band called Montrose. I've been listening to that album for 50 years. Second only to Bowie as Ziggy. When I use to hit a good golf shot I would yell. " get out your bad motor scooter and ride".:)

TBH guy, I'm not sure Sammy can kick ass at 76. I love the guy but no way the vocal cords can stay young. Now, they make it a place easy for me to get to I'd probably attend simply out of respect. I'm always impressed these guys can still get up there. I saw the Stones in their late 50's and they kicked ass.

I've told this story on here before but maybe you didn't see it. The reason Eddie Van Halen played guitar and Alex drums is because Alex ran faster then Eddie. Growing up in Tulip land the parents bought them a drum set. First home from school got to play them first. Alex always won. Eddie got pissed and picked up a guitar.

Sorry man, I'm a huge VH fan and I've read an awful lot about them and there's some holes in your story.
First, the parents did not buy the boys a drum set in "Tulip land". They moved to America in 1962 when Eddie was seven. Their father, being a rather prominent Dutch musician, wanted both boys to play piano and that's what they started on.
Eventually, Alex bought himself a guitar and Eddie bought himself a drum kit. Eddie had a paper route in order to pay for it and Alex would play the kit while Eddie was out doing the route. Eventually, Eddie heard Alex play Wipeout and decided to give the drums to Alex and switch to guitar. The rest is history.

I knew they moved here but heard a complete different version on MTV way way back. And I never further looked into it as I was PO'd at Eddie for marrying the women who was meant to be my wife. Although, I did enjoy the wife stealing MOFO's music. We sure as hell wouldn't have named our first Wolfgang.
