Sure looks like a lot of interest for these safety/LB hybrid types. They have better pass defense skills and can make tackles. Hall and Muse both fit this role.

Yea we found out about them alright, they all get blown off the line of scrimmage and then make
tackles 5-6 yds down the field. No thanks.

Steelers had a very good run defense last year, size didn’t hurt them. Being on the damn field so much hurt them. Must have set a record for 3 and out on offense last season.

Honestly speaking, with the exception of both Murray and Queen, I doubt Pittsburgh targets an Inside Backer at pick 49. Perhaps the third round comp pick but there is still the need of having a Safety to back up Minkah. I like Terrell Burgess although I do not believe he will be there.

definitely not at 49...the sweet spot for iLBs this year imo is our 3rd comp and our 4A and 4B selections. Jordyn Brooks is still my top guy probably.

I think they want the type that can run and stay on the field for 3 downs even as backups. The thumper is a liability today.

This right here. I don’t know why it’s so hard to see. We have a handful of SS and exactly 1 FS.

Agreed. Last year is proof of how important a good secondary is. With the pass rush the Steelers have and then mix in guys at the back end that can cover, it’s a lethal mix. Minkah pulled it all together back there, they must find someone else in the event he is hurt, too much riding on him remaining healthy for the whole season.

Different game as than you apparently.

They gave up a whopping 3.8 yards per carry. Boy, I sure wish it didn’t take our small little weak LB‘s so long to get them on the ground :lolol:

And that is with the defense being on the field all game long.

    Yep.

Hopefully the team has learned that lesson in regards to simply hoping that a player stays healthy all season. As much as I love Minkah, his controlled recklessness will likely get him hurt at some point despite how odd that may sound. Having a quality depth option is critical as trusting Terrell Edmunds is the equivalent of trusting one's ex-girlfriend with the car-keys! :lolol:

Boy, the games I saw looks like the opponent could run at will if they chose to. Indy comes to mind.

They were 14th in run defense, Ward. Picking a game or two and projecting it over the course of the whole season isn’t accurate.

3.8 yards and 14th overall run defense. Tells a different story then the one you are pushing.

And again, defense on the field an exuberant amount of time due to no offense or they would have ranked even better.

you mean the game where our designated run stuffer, thumper type LB blew the game missing a tackle? Then missed two against the jets blowing that one as well. There is film out there talking about it. 3.8 per carry and playing two against the best run team in the league. 106 missed tackles on the year. Fun attempts was pretty high against us.

I like our defense, besides a couple of positions. I still believe a run
heavy offensive team will gash this defense. We saw how Jacksonville
did it with ease in the playoffs. Other teams will follow.

I am sticking with my comment about run oriented teams. And we happen
to have 2 in our own division that could give us big problems going forward.

I like s/LB Khaleke Hudson out of Michigan via Pittsbrugh; Another Michigan product.
4th round prospect for the Steelers that have 2 4th round picks.. Would have like him better in the 5th, but no pick hat round.

Should be a special teams standout and a weight room god. 30 Reps; most of any LB.
Should be able to take over Barrons's role splitting time with Vince.

Had an informal visit with the Steelers at the combine.
