    So.....

A Defense that has led the NFL in sacks since since 2017 is not considered aggressive?! Rather, not aggressive enough?! That is interesting for sure.

I would like to see a reduced amount of coverage breakdowns and miscommunication within the defense overall. That much would go a long way.

I didn’t read Jehs link so don’t know if its in there but that has been discussed by Austin. They understand that has been a problem for them and need to eliminate it.

I still say the best game they played last year was the 1st game of the season against Buffalo and they Blitzed a total of 3 times that game.

Going to those 2 DL fronts, when Tyson went down really hurt the ILB's ability to stop the run.

I like to see that Flores is focusing on LBs. Maybe this will be Bush & Jacks year to excel.

AskQuestionsLater said it for me. So tired of seeing communication breakdowns on defense and DBs looking at each other after the play. Giving up huge 3rd down conversations. This would go a long way to solving those issues. Coaching!

Unless Flores is a parttime proctologist I fear Jerry-O will still have his head firmly lodged in his backside.

Not to paint Austin with a broad brush but we are still waiting on his boss to unleash hell for the last decade. But hey we strive for perfection knowing there are no style points awarded..........

he made the remark about communication would be better but also when they talk there will be acknowledgement that said communication was received. he said that was a problem.

they both said flores is working all over the defense. front to back and back to front. he said he will work with anyone that is in contact with his backers. D-Line or safeties. he also said he was mostly working with inside backers. is jerry o getting some teachings? possibly. i expect he is learning some things as well as the players.

Flores really could be the mike munchak of the defense. this should bode well for this team. i think austin as well will be a much needed upgrade for this unit. pittsburgh's defense may be back baby. :rawk:

Man I hope you're right. But what happened to the coaching last year? Did Tomlin not understand how to coach a defense? This coaching staff has been questionable for a while now in my opinion. I'm hoping Tomlin finally let's go of the defense and lets someone else call it. But I don't see that happening. Again i hope you're correct and we see a huge improvement on D.

These guys are always Ultimate Warriors during the off-season. Remember our O-line coach last off-season blabbing the same stuff and the o line played like pussies.
I’ll believe it when it happens.

How about not being one of the worst in the league stopping the run first?

There is no issue of them being a sack machine.

Recently for a few defenders attacking looked more like running quickly past the guy with the ball

Kind of like attacking 4 year olds in a soccer game

This x 1,000. DEs and ILBs need to step up on Run D. I still have nightmares about the Vikings game last year.

Both Cincy games for me personally; doubly so in the rematch. Granted... that Vikings game was just.... yikes!

Burrow torched the D through the air both Bengals/Steelers games. Bengals didn't run as well as the Vikings did.

Joe Mixon had 28 carries for 168 yards in the rematch. Compare that to Burrow who completed 20 of 24 passes for 190 yards with one TD but one Pick. Fair enough on the first matchup though.

Worst part about the first game?! Burrow actually threw for less yards but completed more TDs!

I would like to see them stop the run this season even if that means less sacks.

My favorite scheme is where we play super conservative towards the end of a game and give the opposing team a real good shot at winning.

I want a true shutdown D. Let’s stifle an elite qb or shut the run down every now and then. I understand it’s not sustainable but I have yet to see our defense harass mahomes Wilson or rodgers type qbs.

Ferocious defense. Najee ground and pound, mason deep ball to #7
