It's only personal if you assume Rock knew about the alopecia before making the joke. Theres no indication he knew...I know I certainly didnt. I'm assuming you did? He could have made up that joke right there on the spot. I just dont see how there was any malicious intent behind what he said. Certainly it wasnt anything that required him to jump on stage and assault someone in that manner. If he wanted to jump on stage this is how he should have handled it if he was so offended (certainly he wasnt offended enough to not join in the laughter)...

No it wasnt common knowledge...you would have to be a social media junkie or into celebrity worship to have known that from what I can tell and its nothing new to even see her with her hair short even before her claims to having contracted alopecia...Its really not uncommon for a lot of women to wear their hair short (unrelated to cancer, but as a show of independence/warrior spirit)...especially radical feminists. I dont think its attractive but that's me.

You really think Chris rock just gets up there and makes up **** at The Oscars? I’d be willing to bet that it’s all written and rehearsed. Plus just cause you didn’t know does it mean Chris rock didn’t know. And who cares if he knew or not don’t be making fun of people‘s wives especially when they’re sitting 10 feet in front of you.
I was watching. I giggled then cringed when he made the joke. Then when Will Smith slapped him I thought it was part of a skit or something. I didn’t realize until later that it was real.

Not to mention you’re on a message board and you’re criticizing social media junkies?

I’ve seen it said since the incident that she has spoken publicly about it in the past, hard to imagine Rock wouldn’t know about it but at the same time, if he did, I can’t see him making that joke.

I didn’t even know the Oscars was on or any of the details about their lives or her affair with the rapper August until the girl I am seeing filled me in on all of it, so I may not be the best person to say how well known it was.
Who said he would be locked up and throw away the key?

Fact is, he assaulted someone on national TV and only because Rock refused to press charges is why Smith wasn’t booked. And lets be honest, that was more than a slap, might have been opened handed but he walloped him.

Too bad it wasn’t the other Rock, Dwayne Johnson that made that joke. Bet Smith would have kept his ass planted in his seat then.

Chill out bro. I'm not criticizing anything. I'm simply saying unless you frequent those type of accounts it's highly unlikely you knew about her condition...are you confusing this board with IG, FB, Twitter??...if so, you're missing the point. Maybe you need a refresher on what a social media account is...typically a fan message board wouldnt be considered that but maybe I'm wrong.

Yeah, I really do believe Chris Rock is capable of adlib... he's done stand up comedy for more then 20 years...what's so hard to believe about that??

What's giving you the impression that he did know?? Did he say he knew?? At the end of the day the onus is on those who claim that he knew about it to prove that he knew about it...not the opposite. If you're claiming that he knew about her condition without facts to back it up then you're creating a narrative where it makes it somehow acceptable for him to be assaulted based upon a false misconception.

    All the players
If you look at my views, for the most part, they are echoed sentiments of players, analysts, and aficionados. That's why im always quoting articles.

That's what HE thinks. He was good but, couldn't/wouldn't tackle! I'll take Rod Woodson, Mel Blount, Ronnie Lott over Sanders!

According to backstage reports Chris rock didn’t know she had that condition. I have no reason to believe he’s lying. So that’s that. This whole conversation has gotten so far out there. The moral of the story is if you’re going to act like a jack ass and make fun of people be prepared for the fact that someone might wanna tune you up. Maybe Will Smith needs to have a little thicker skin? Whatever.
Probably should’ve picked a different time to confront Chris rock about it. But you know how it goes when you’re in the heat of the moment and you’re upset.

I think Chris Rock should be slapped. Multiple times! The Academy Awards ceremony is the wrong place to do it.
Probably a good thing Don Rickles and Joan Rivers are dead!

And many recognize his obvious shortcomings

A goat doesn’t have recognized substantial shortcomings

    That's pretty much the definition

Funny, but I doubt he can even pronounce goat

His ability to speak English is poor constantly saying boof instead of both

Chris Rock was slapped for saying a feeble insult. Don Rickles would be burned at the stake in today's thin skinned society.
