    Najee facts

He was not worth the option

    The Steelers didn’t want him

It took about two months of FA until the only team remotely interested gave him a chump change contract

    Undeniable Facts

I like Facts much more useful than random opinions

Said it was the sickest he's ever been playing in a football game.

For Bell, yes. YPC isn't the best stat by itself. But I was unaware of succ% in 2016/2017. Not sure if it even existed.

But when YPC drops by almost a full yard (20%!) from the previous 3 year average that's a pretty big signal (4.7, 4.9, 4.9 to 4.0).

We didn't have the succ% at the time, but now you can see that his success rate in 2017 (45.5) was also much less than it was in 2016 (53.3). Not much different than 2015 though. His success rates kind of yo-yo'd around year to year. I wonder if that means he was consistently getting close to the success line? Pretty big swings from 45 - 49 - 45 - 59 - 45. Haven't looked around the league too much re: succ%, but this seems to be bigger swings than I've seen with other recent Steelers backs year to year (basically just Najee and Warren).

So yes, I think the YPC signaling decline was a big reason why I was against paying Bell like a RB1 + WR2 like he and his agent wanted.

Bell was all about elite vision and acceleration IMO. And that fast twitch acceleration is the first thing to decline IMO. And he declined very, very hard. People who didn't try to shrug off the huge difference in YPC saw it coming. Thankfully, Bell saved the Steelers from themselves by rejecting the contract we offered him.

We'll always have that magical playoff run though.
I wish he could have stayed on the field against the Pats though. He was so great that year...maybe it could have made a difference.

    Yep.

I would maybe amend point 2 to "didn't want him at that price". Although we'll never really know because I think he wouldn't have come back after us not giving him the option. Unless his other options were only at the vet min because we could give him vet min + small bonus that doesn't count against the cap for being on a team for 4 years...the T Edmunds special.

If it were an option, I think we would have brought him back on a lower contract. Maybe like the one the Chargers gave him (without the incentives that he was unlikely to reach). Certainly on the T Edmunds special.

Theres that too, was questionable that he would have even been playing. Was getting fluids before the game.

    2023:
    NH+JW = 2366 on 493 touches = 4.8 yds/touch

    2025*:
    JW+KG = 1586 on 319 touches = 4.9 yds/touch

    * through Wk13 (correction)

Seems to support the idea from earlier in the thread that the biggest difference between this year and last year is that the offense isn't running enough plays (I think it's a lot on the D).

The O's actually been pretty efficient this year. Both in terms of success rate (running in particular) and in getting TDs instead of FGs.

I think our PPG is pretty surprising given how few plays we've run on offense.

I think this is the difference that Rodgers is bringing. Even though stats wise he's mostly just meh.

Whether or not Harris was worth the option is an opinion, not a fact. You should learn the difference.

Let me give you some examples. These are all facts.

Fact: Harris never missed a start during four years as a Steeler. Warren already missed one this year and has missed time throughout his career.

Fact: Harris never averaged fewer than 15 carries per game as a Steeler. Warren is averaging 13.2 this season.

Fact: During all three seasons that Harris and Warren played together, Harris got every start.

Fact: During all three seasons that Harris and Warren played together, Harris got more touches.

Fact: Harris was older and had far more wear and tear on his body than Warren when they made their decisions regarding this past offseason.

Fact: Harris averaged 4.0 yards per carry last season. Warren is averaging 4.0 yards per carry this season.

Fact: There are 22 running backs in the NFL this season who have more yards rushing than Warren.

Fact: Of the 22 running backs with more yardage than Warren, 18 have a higher average per carry.

I hope you enjoyed today's lesson in fact vs. opinion. May it serve you well in your future endeavors.

I'm pleasantly happy having Warren on our team.
    Organization made the BEST choice.
Plain and simple. All other noise is just anass stuck in mud.

And that was the problem with the offense in previous years, low efficiency. Piling up lots of yards with little to show for it.

Tell me one thing in my list that was factually incorrect. You can't.

Tell me I was wrong that you were presenting opinion as fact? You can't do that, either. This assumes that you actually understand the definition of both words.

Take your well-deserved L and run along, old man.

Just listening to the Terrible Podcast right now. They say that we have the 3rd highest red zone efficiency in the league.

Remember that just 2 years ago, our staring QB threw 6 TDs in his 12 starts.

So far AR has 22 TDs in 13 starts.
