...that the defense allows the opposing team's offense to march right down the field to score and win the game. Other than possibly TJ Watt, I personally don't get excited watching any of our defenders. When we were good on defense, there were a lot that were beasts. Now it is a lot of bad and average players.

Unpopular opinion: Heyward and Tuitt are average players who are way over paid.

Popular Opinion?: Our ILBs are all below average.

Popular Opinion: Haden is above average, but the rest of the secondary are below average.

Best defensive player is TJ Watt and he is above average. We don't have any great or exceptional players on defense. That is the key to the consistent defensive collapses.

No I agree with tuitt and Hayward being overrated there nice players but I don't get why ppl think they're anything but the defense still sucks with them. If they were anything special it wouldn't suck so much

It would seriously help if any one of those guys could pull in one of those easy interceptions

Talent is still “part” of the issue. Unless you are referring to Burns, Dupree, ani ILB, ... as “talented”.

Talent is a HUGE part of the issue. The back end other than Haden range from below average to horrible. Butler has been awful, but the talent is lacking.

It would help the younger players if Butler was competent, but he is a LeBeau disciple, and Lebeau's sytem was predicated on stopping the run and zone blitzes. We never really had an all world cover corner, and we really didn't need one because the front seven was exceptional, and we had Troy, Clark and Taylor on the back end. The game has changed, but our defensive philosophy hasn't. So yes, Butler is incompetent, but what is Tomlin doing about it?

Belichek would have this exact team in a couple SB's. There's ZERO discipline.

Come on now - Burns has the talent of covering a spot on the field that no receiver is at. Dupree has the talent of making perfect circle arcs around the QB.

These scenarios have been happening since January 22nd, 2017 when the Steelers clashed with the Patriots for the 2016 AFC Championship. Keith Butler was doing it then. He is doing even worse now.

The talent level has not deteriorated as badly as some make it out to be. Keith Butler has but in far greater degrees than even I thought he would. If the game against Denver was not the beginning of the end for Keith, this game likely will be. Inexcusable.

That being said, to placate blame soley on him is asinine. As I said in the official thread, this is a complete team failure. No more need be said.

They've been one of the dumbest teams for quite a few years now. I know I've been saying it for at least the last 5

It seems almost everybody on this board pretty much expected what happened yesterday was going to happen and are not surprised it happened. Tomlin and co. must of felt differently.
To add injury to insult, our Drama Queen has turned into a Eli Manning.
