Looks like most of USA gets to watch this scary repeat of Pgh/Balt in the late CBS game - except here in So Cal where the Chargers will get blacked out for the second week in a row and leave the local affiliate scrambling for some Ice Capade feed (again). I'll get to actually use my Sunday Ticket now 2 weeks in a row. I believe that makes 3 games this year so far NOT on a prime time channel. I'm sure glad Direct TV dropped the renewal to $149 this year - that works out to about $50 per game so far.

I paid 200.00 for my Sunday ticket....I have used it exactly ONCE to watch a Steelers game (last week against the Browns). However, for the early game, because I am in the "Buffalo" market (even though I am equal distance from Cleveland and Pittsburgh), I wont get stuck watching the Jags/Bills game

Yes I forgot - my renewal would have been $200 also (down from $249 as I recall) but I called them to drop only the premium portion (Red Zone, Short Cuts etc) and they just offered me the even lower rate of $149. I asked if they would have offered that if I hadn't called and they said no - only to repeat customers who call them. While it somewhat makes sense - it's the strangest marketing tactic I've heard of.

My plan is to tell them, at renewal time, that I barely used my Sunday ticket to watch my team play, and, therefore, am switching back to Dish...lol.

Directv called me back in like july and offered me Sunday ticket for free if I tried the premium channels for $5 per month for three months. I paid the 5 per month for three months then cancelled the end of october before the price went up. They let me keep the Sunday ticket the rest of the year for free. So total I paid 15 bucks. Like you said though most the games have been national broadcasts.

I have always found you can get much better deals with directv if you push them a bit...

i paid a whopping $0 for mine. i changed form the Dish to DTV and it was free when you sign up for service.

kind of glad since they have been on regular tv just about every game this year. that was one of the biggest reason i never switched to DTV. it just didnt seem worth paying $300 plus to watch them 2 or 3 times on the Ticket. i could just go to the bar, but i will say that the NFL Mix channel or what ever its called is very cool. 8 games at once. dare i say that might be better than sex and yes i do it right before anyone chimes in.

I despise watching Steelers games in bars.

I suppose though it's better than watching them (and you) in stripes from behind bars.

Probably because he can't watch wearing boxers and house shoes from the bar. Or maybe it had something to do with a coed wearing a DTF button and the men's room...

Another Sunday Ticket day for me. Thank goodness I can watch the Steelers/Ravens - as bad as it might be - instead of the Clowns/Raiders.

comcast does the exact same thing with cable. Every year in the fall my cable bill goes up prompting me to call or stop in. They then with no pressure give me "special package deal" for 1 year which lowers my bill back down to where it was...about $40/month less.

My "commitment" ends this summer, so I should be able to snag the ticket for free next year. First, I'll call to cancel the ticket - then I'll tell them that I'm looking around at other providers. That should get me a year's worth of football for free - maybe even more.

Actually its pretty smart. Im sure they try to up sale you on additional services. I left it off of my first reply, but its what Comcast does to me. It assures that at least once a year you have contact with them so they can give you a sales pitch.

First game all year that won't be televised for me in Columbus. Between the night games, 4:00 games, lucking out with games on Fox when Browns/Bengals were on CBS, all 11 have been on TV, which is pretty incredible. I'm pumped to head to the sports bar to make a day out of it on Sunday. It gets old when you have to do it 7-8 times a year, but when it's only a couple times, I look forward to the change of scenery and the atmosphere.
