Not sure if this is being discussed in other threads, but I didn't see its own topic.

Troy has not practiced all week. He was seen leaving the stadium Sun night with his leg wrapped or something to that effect.
Its been called a calf strain.
If he plays I think we see the same non-effective Troy we have seen as of late. Calf strains do not heal in a week and it will slow him down tremendously. Wasn't it a calf strain that hampered him 2 season ago when we went to the Super Bowl? I wonder if its the same one?
    What a bummer.

it has been discussed in several other threads (now this one) and its old news ..... tomlin said he will be fine.. and a couple years ago it was a heel injury (that he got in a bengals game diving into the end zone after an interceptipon pic 6) not a calf strain...

I believe he strained his Achilles that season, not tore but strained. And if you look in years past Troy hasn't practiced a lot at times even when he is a little banged up. I'm sure he will play.

Troy is a beast. If he's on the field, then he'll make plays... And other teams will fear/respect him.

I know I'll get hammered for this, but Troy seems to be a shell of himself and always seems hurt. He's not the impact player he once was. Still love him and still want him on the field in hopes he becomes the beast he once was.

I read his words with the meaning, "I don't know. I'm not at liberty to say. And even if the answer is NO, we move on."

I wouldn't read more into it than that.

You shouldn't get hammered, I feel the same way. He seems to always be banged up now and this week is no exception.

It would be a shame if James and Troy miss the game, we need them both.

SHELVED. Silverback out, now Troy? No wonder why I quit
betting on football, Just too many variables to comprehend.
I Was liking our chances against the Jets this week, but they are getting
    slimmer and slimmer.

you won't get ripped from me, I agree. they HAVE to focus on drafting a safety high in the draft in the next year or two

The thing is this D has gone from being an historically good D -- best in the last 20 yrs ---, to one that is maybe ONLY Top 5 in the NFL. That still ain't bad, but it ain't what it used to be. And it reallly it couldn't be what it used to be forever.

The game has changed, stubborn Lebeau hasn't so I put half the blame on Lebeau for not using his players properly. Enough of the Run blitzes, we need more blitzes that'll make it to the QB.

I think Troy's gotten to the point that his reputation outshines his current play. The other teams, at least at this point, always want to know where he is because they know he can be a game changer. I hope his best days aren't behind him.

How dare you even think...actually I agree with you. Troy still has it in him because every now and then he comes up with a big play like he used to, but those big plays seem to be happening less and less as he ages and he seems to be out of position more and more these days. I'm starting to wonder if he just can't keep up with his own style anymore and the expectations he has set.

:lolol: Actually I kind of had a feeling we'd be on the same side with this one. I think the biggest thing is he is always hurt, even when it's not listed, he's probably got some nagging injury, he admits to hiding injuries. Here it is at the very start of the season, hurt. We'll see how he bounces back this weekend and with Clark on the field. Assuming he even plays.

Troy isnt the guy who used to create havoc for offenses that we remember, he is one of these self healer guys who over the years lets his injuries stack up like when he tore his MCL instead of surgicly repairing it he had this notion it would heal on it's own, and so he missed most of the season nursing it. Now he has an injury lingering over from a game played last year: I expect that if he plays more than 6 games this year thats about all he has left in him, I dont expect him to play Sunday, but if he does I expect he will tap out early on, I have no confidence at all in his durability and playing for 16 games is totaly out of the question, I think the time has come to look for a strong safety in the draft to replace him next year....

So last week when Troy blitzed, jumping the line and nearly grabbing the RB five yards back field was reputation and not extrodinary. Oh yea he got up and still made the tackle. Troy is the only player in the league I've seen do that and he seems to do that every year. He's old and hurt but he still has it. That said the backup safties in my opinion stink. If Troy plays (And god willing he will) he will change the complexation of the game, especially with Clark back!

Remember that other SS Bob Sanders who played for the colts, he was always hurt sitting out games, well he's been retired last year after an 8 year career, he didnt play as long as Troy, these little guys that play physical have a shorter shelf life than other players for a reason......
