Troy Polamalu and Todd Marinovich?

On Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, there was an article about Polamalu and noticed this: "Most springs, he spends working out with his trainer, Todd Marinovich, in the Los Angeles area."

Todd Marinovich, is this the guy that is addicted to drugs? Wasn't he called Todd Marijuanavich? Bothers me that Troy is hanging out with this dude.

Yes - I'm sure that Troy Polamalu, perhaps one of the most grounded players on the entire team, is being mis-led by a drug addict.

Just because he's a recovering addict doens't mean that he isn't a capable trainer.

Marinovich went to USC, so it makes sense.

I never thought much of Marinovich until the ESPN 30-30 movie about him, The Todd Marinovich Project. Anyone who hasn't seen it should take a look. It's available on iTunes. The film really puts a new spin on Marinovich's troubles.

    Really...? Weed? a drug addict?

C'mon people you need to put things in perspective.

Santonio is an idiot because he got pay many millions to be an athlete, keep his nose clean and not get into trouble because of the rules of the game. Troy training with someone who smokes pot is not even in the same conversation.

Of all people to NOT worry about it's Troy. Jeez...

And they all defend Ben and his behavior. Twisted world.

Troy works out with Todd's dad Marv not that drug addict Todd. His dad uses unconventional methods no weights. I don't know if Troy still works out with Marv though.

If you watch the documentary mentioned earlier you will find it was so much more than weed. The final straw was a solid a heroin habit.

I'll say. This guy was shooting up at halftime of CFL games, not just smoking a little weed on the weekends.

If troy is working out with this guy, it might actually be a benefit for Marinovich to be around troy. Troy does so much for people outside of football, if anything I could see troy having an impact on this guys life and helping him change it for the better.

Pretty sure they messed up that story. As far as I know Troy works out with Todd's father.

Wow, relax it is Marv Marinovich Todd's father. He has a very special workout program and Troy has been coming here to So. California working out with him for years, nothing new here! Tomlin told Troy he needs to be with the team this year with the loss of Smith, Farrior and Ward as some of our Vet. leaders and I heard Troy agreed so he should be there with the team this year.

That just goes to show you how flexable the Steelers Mgmt is with their players,
It is no wonder that the players like to play for the Rooney's/Steelers. In this world
of big time athletics(BIG MONEY) that any team would not want their players under
the watch of their people all the time. Of course it kinda helps if you have Troy's talent.
I am not so sure that this would be the case if say, Ryan Mundy decides he wants to
go off somewhere and train with someone other than Steeler personnel.

"Marinovich went to USC, so it makes sense."

I think they also share the same religion, so they have that in common too.

Troy trained with Marv in San Diego for the surfing as much as the workout. He actually injured himself surfing there a few seasons back. He hid the injury from the Steeelers.

Wasn't the year he was out most of the season, the first one that the team made him not work out with him? IIRC the team let him go out the next year.
