I was thinking, sometimes it’s hard not to screw with some of the people who post. Your response was perfect.

I didn't mean to imply the 6 year was offered. I merely meant that in the grand scheme of things it could be looked upon as such.

He got paid 12 mill guaranteed last year. He would have got 25 this year. 10 mill in signing bonus..and as a vested veteran his entire 2018 contract would have been guaranteed as long as he was on the roster week 1...and that has been guesstimated about 15...so thats the 25 this year plus the 12 last year..thats where I said 37mill. If the rolling amount would be included he would basically be in the vicinity of 50 mill over a 3 year period.

When I said 6 years at 82 mill that would roughly be what he would have played for from 2017 on.....

and yes..you are correct if his leg were to fall off week one.....and they cut him...he would have the 12 from last year..and the 10..and his entire 2018 salary....and they could cut him. But seeing what they have done with Ryan Shazier....I think they would keep him around long enough for him to see some of that roster bonus year 2 money.

I'm the internet tough guy?? I guarantee theres stuff you've said about Leveon Bell that you wouldn't say to his face, but I bet I would say it to your face you clown. So who's really the internet tough guy?? Clearly you're not on my level intellectually just by the fact that you would say that just because someone disagrees with you then they must be the opposite...No it just means we dont agree on that topic.
What kind of third grade philosophy is that?

    1) Conner doing the same thing and I am sure others do as well. It might not be a lot, but he is not unique. I am guessing that most of those you mentioned "that know the game" are probably the talking heads in the media and they never write stories and narratives about players just to create story-lines instead of just reporting on facts. Bell is a talent, no doubt, but is he worth what he is asking? As a guy who thinks most athletes are overpaid by a gross margin, I am admittedly biased on that front.

    4) I am sorry, but as a guy who lives paycheck to paycheck, I can't muster a whole lot of sympathy that he hasn't made $17 million yet. Again, athletes and other entertainers are so overpaid and they, and too many average people, just don't get that. I understand that this is just my opinion, but the fact that we pay our athletes, actors, and other celebrity entertainers so much more than our teachers, police, firemen, soldiers, and more important (my opinion) professions just seems crazy to me. So Bell made $4 million a year and a teacher makes maybe 40k a year. Which is more important to the functioning of society? So, no. I am not crying foul over what Bell was paid. Gurley is even worse and so much more so are quarterbacks, so while that argument makes sense from your point of view; to me it doesn't help.

Thanks for the contract info links though. Very helpful.

The rumor could live to be true. Another headache. After all , i think letting him go for a comp pick is better soo they better get a 1st rounder now. ;)

I would and think they will, transition tag him. Protects them against being low balled and there is the possibility of further compensation with it.
He'll be gone but let it be on Steelers' terms not his. However, I think there is truth that Rooney and the staff just want him gone.

As in, they'll pay to make him go away.

How so? There’s no draft-pick compensation with the transition tag.
