i don't think they are without depth at tackle. haeg, moore, collins, coyle, jones, leglue, walton and even coward has played tackle. just waiting for some of these young ones to come along. not unlike AV and feiler at the time. with banner and okrafor, i think we will be OK. have to wait and see how these guys do in this scheme.

you run dirt modifieds? sprints? i used to run late models.

Well, I should have maybe phrased my response a little better. I'd like to see legitimate competition for CHuks. I don't know about him, he scares me on Ben's blind side. I think he's a smart player and he works hard, I'm just not sure he's naturally cantankerous enough to be a dependable left tackle.

No, never drove. I've been a fan since I was 8...when my parents started taking my brother and I to the local W.Pa. dirt tracks. At one time, we had a group of about two dozen going weekly for several years in the 70's. I'm the only one left that still goes. BTW, that photo is Ronnie Tobias, I'm guessing at either Grandview or the old Penn National. Never saw him drive, I just love the photo. It's not often you see cars hung out like that anymore the way they handle.

If you don't mind me asking, where did you race and for how long? I can guess that you got out because of cost. LM's are so damn expensive now. My buddy used to run Big Blocks, now his son runs 410's. I was shocked when he told me it was cheaper to get in to the 410's than Supers, and that was 7-8 years ago. Sprints always used to be the most expensive. Not anymore, and not for sometime now.

cannonball in ohio, zanesville, wv motor, pennsboro, tyler county speedway. i didn't drive, i was a crew member and built them for a friend. yes they got way too expensive to keep up with the team cars. we used rocket chassis. he had 3 brothers that raced as well and a son that ran mini carts at the time. built that too. helped the brothers and built a couple of those as well. lot's of time involved. most guys we knew way back then that still race are in modifieds now because of cost. his son runs modifieds now. he's still got an old roller sitting in the garage with a couple of 800 HP motors. now they mainly drive around the turns.

my hope is chuks does better at LT but i see moore being the eventual LT.

Can Turner play center? I don’t feel good starting the season with Hassenauer, Finney and Green (rookie)

Ralph Quarterson was The Man at Mercer. Later on, Tommy Krystiak was really good there in the Modifieds. But, those guys you have listed were all great drivers I watched as a kid. The good old days when a lot of teams built their own cars.

You know the second he signs his is the #1 guard on the team, would also qualify as #1 offensive lineman on the team.

Why would you then move your best player to a position he has no experience at?

I don't have a clue why Pittsburgh is even having conversations with a 28 year old 5 time pro bowl guard, unless Decastro is out. Something tells me Turner is just trying to run up the price on another team, and the talk with the Steelers are all smoke and mirrors.

I'd rather see Okung visit Pittsburgh right now, Should be on the cheap with his Bit-Coin payment Demand.

Turner wouldn't be the #1 OL on the team, if he was that good he would be on a team.

I think Green will do fine as the starter at center.

    I wouldn't touch Okung with a ten foot pole. He's a loon.

Dang, if DD is retiring, I don’t have much faith in this season, unless Klemm is the second coming of Dante Scarnecchia at OL Coach.

Just saying we are awfully shaky at center. Green may be the future, but right now he's an unproven rookie. Finney filled in fine when he was with us, but his resume the last couple years has been questionable. Hassenauer? We saw how he performed last year.

If they sign Trai you may be looking at the fastest interior offensive line in the NFL.

    40yd time
    Dotson: 4.80
    Greene: 4.89
    Turner: 4.93

DD is really breaking down. This O Line scares the crap out of me. You can’t get worst than last year but man the Steelers might give it a run.

I may be wrong, but it someone knew there was a chance DD would be questionable to either play or play at the level he should, wouldn't you think OL would be our #1 pick and need in this past draft? Hard to figure out what is going on to whom and why so I just sit back and hope they are doing what needs to be done.

I chuckled when I first read this but then realized, damn, you just could be right if chips fall the wrong way. I still believe we'd have done something different if someone knew about DD being questionable this year. Therefore, until word comes out otherwise, I will look for him to start against the Bills.

Crap, hoped DD was healthy and guard was actually a strength this year.

This roster is held together by bailing wire and chewing gum and it's June.

Al was not "terrible" last year. I think people are going to miss him more than they realize.

I suppose we should start to have an award we can tag to a comment as "obvious."

    Rain is water

    Let get that tag boys!
