If I recall correctly (and I am sure the internet sleuths in here will correct me), Ben was coming off his motorcycle crash and an emergency appendectomy prior to this last season. The team started 2-6 but finished strong 6-2 for a very Tomlin like 8-8 season. I think they would have made some noise in the playoffs, but they didn't make the cut, missing on a tie-breaker, I think.

That is correct. Roethlisberger played horribly during that 2-6 start. I'm not sure how far they would have gotten. Those two losses in the second half of the season were spankings by the Ravens, who then lost their first-round playoff game.

The motorcycle crash, the appendectomy, and an early-season concussion all led to Roethlisberger's poor play for at least half of the season, but he made his transition very good game manager who could make special plays with the game to one of the league's elite passers under Tomlin.

The problem is we play way off at the line of scrimmage so it contradicts helping out our rush. Not to mention we completely telegraph the blitz so teams see that and go to hot a read and the wr just runs a quick inside slant and gets a quick 7 - 10 yards. If we would play press man that would give the rush wether blitz or 4 man that extra split second to get to the QB. We wanted to run more man but yet we sign a 34 old zone cb. It makes absolutely no sense.

It would have to be a situation where Tomlin resigns from the Steelers, takes the Giants gig and then trade comp is decided by the owners, akin to the Bellichek trade to the Patriots. And I just don't see Tomlin making that leap, even if compensation is higher in NY.

They missed on a tie breaker because KC's kicker missed a 41 yard FG, I believe. With Tomlins recent history in the playoffs, it would be hard for me to imagine any of his teams making noise in the playoffs. It was a great turnaround though. I think that was the year Pouncey was out for the year and was Bell's rookie year. It was right around the time that Brown was starting to break out and Bell was a year away from breaking out.

No, he really didn't, but I know some folks here enjoy repeating that lie. He got fed up with a team that mismanaged him from the start, let him undergo a surgical procedure to rush him back and didn't play him, then took away his opportunity to even compete for the job going into the following season. Behind the scenes, he blew his top. Instead of telling him to shut up and wait his turn, they bailed.

They did get some value. The swap of picks in 2024 got them Peyton Wilson. They made trades involving all three of their fifth-rounders in 2025, so it is tough to track exactly what they got in the Pickett deal, but Yahya Black was part of it. I'm sure folks here will count getting Wilson and Black for Pickett as a four is a win. That No. 4 ended up with the Dolphins, who took Jaylen Wright.

Brown was drafted in 2010. Bell was drafted in 2013. They did miss the playoffs one year when the Chiefs missed a late field goal, but that wasn't 2006. The Chiefs won their final regular-season game in 2006.

It was in 2013.He was talking about the 2006 season....I think if they would make the playoffs in 2013,they would been possible for the steelers to beat the bengals and Andy Dalton in the wild card round but it would been ugly the next week in Denver

Yep can't remember year. KC was a lock playing backups and they still could have won on the short fg.
