I don’t think it’ll happen. If nothing else, Tomlin seems averse to developing QB talent (and sports the track record to prove it).

He would be taking over with the guy in place. He isn't who I would want to develop Dart, but there are many pieces in place and that could be attractive to Tomlin.

Of course, this isn't happening, but the Giants may be in better shape talent-wise than the Steelers going into 2026.

    • 1989: Noll was recognized as the NFL Coach of the Year for leading the Steelers to a 9–7 record and a playoff appearance.
    • 1972: He received the UPI AFC Coach of the Year award.

    Which ones?

If they were desperate, I think they would have overpaid on their 1st choice at QB (Fields) instead of letting him go to the Jets for not that much money. But we didn't want to guarantee him what NYJ did. Looks like a good decision based on results since then.

When that didn't work, a desperate team might have just resigned Wilson. Rooney said that his preference was one of Fields or Wilson. But this was clearly a lie because our actions show that we very obviously had zero interest in bringing Wilson back.

Going after Rodgers? He was a great value. Just like Wilson appeared to be the year before. A desperate team would have ponied up the cash for AR. But Kahn said "we have this low value on you and we aren't going to come up from that number. You can go sign with someone else if they give you a better offer that you want to take." We waited forever because AR was waiting to see if he could get something closer to a market level QB deal. He did not. So he signed with us.

Maybe you could argue this re: the DK contract. But at least some of this was out of our hands. The league forces a set amount of cash spending every 3 year period. This is the 2nd year in that 3 year span. I believe we were below that value last year and are just at it this year. If we didn't sign DK, we'd be way under. That would force us to spend a **** ton of cash next year to just make the grade. I do think we felt like we "needed" to make a big cash deal like this. And WR was a clear weakness on the team with us wanting to get rid of GP. I do agree that this "desperation" forced us to give DK more guarantees than we have ever given a player with zero 1st team APs.

A desperate team would probably have signed an NFL caliber WR2 as well IMO.

He's already the 3rd highest paid coach in the league. And coaching in Pittsburgh means you have the best job security of any HC in the league.

He was AFC coach of the year (1969 and 1989) but to my point he was never NFL Coach of the Year. Bill Cowher won it in 2004, but neither Noll or Tomlin has won it. To the link below Tomlin hasn't won Jack Squat, unless I am missing it.

This idea is coming from a Raven or Patriot fan i assume. A way to rub salt in our wounds. Nothing gets me more excited than hearing Tomlin might be GONE. We're being teased with a chance at the Steelers becoming relevant again. Sigh. It's not happening because Rooney hates us...all of us. He's laughing every day and already thinking about how soon he can extend Tomlin again, greatly overpay him for mediocrity and give a word salad press release about "patience running thin" on playoff failures. Yada, yada, yada.

I too wonder if any team would hire Tomlin. Why? What has he done to garner any attention, but I know there are GMs/owners that would love some name recognition and an easy hire. "It's Mike Tomlin. If you don't have a Mike Tomlin, you're looking for a Mike Tomlin"

I know, I know, I am mocking Dubas and his quote about Mike Sullivan, but Sullivan is just about the same as Tomlin is. Successful for a few seasons, when al the stars aligned and assistant coaches could overcome the head coaches mediocrity. Once top shelf players roster becomes more just good, but not great, both have turned into pumpkins. Sullivan is VERY medicore. So is Tomlin, probably sub-mediocre if we're being honest.

Tomlin should be gone, we all know that, even the reasoning-challenged backers on this board know this in their brains, they just keep shoving sense back into their brains closet.
Rooney won't allow Tomlin to be gone, so the suffering will continue...with no end in site.

I know. GEEZZZZ, some of these people make me laugh with the .....He won a playoff game since, and totally discount the fact that since that playoff win a lot of those teams haven't sniffed a playoff since that lone win. LoL. They act like if we had won one playoff game the last 3 years, but lost so much we couldn't even get to the playoffs again, they would be cool with that.
