As I look at the draft...maybe a move back might make sense. Here is a thought.

Indy's 37th pick and 49th pick for our 1st round pick. Is that too much from Indy? We are moving down 9 spots, but also adding another 2nd round pick.

If I were GM, it'd depend on who's available at 28. If it was someone that I just couldn't say no to I'd make the pick. But in general I'd be all over that. Huge advantage for Steelers as far as the value is concerned

    Indy's two picks- 540 and 410
    Steelers pick- 660 pts.

A more realistic trade would be Indy's second, their fourth and fifth.

So yeah, they offer that you take it. Unless there is someone you just have to have at 28.

The day I see Colbert trade back is the day I believe it could happen.

I don't see us trading back this year.

Still, we are in a good spot if a team wants to sneak back in 1st round to take a QB.

Pittsburgh has not traded out of the first round in half a century.

    Not happening I am afraid.

Maybe this is the year to do it, with no picks in the 4th and 6th .

It really depends on who they like, who falls, and how many first round grades they actually have... I believe the consensus is this isn't a strong draft, so if they only have 20 guys with first round grades and they could trade back to an early 2nd and pick up extra picks I don't see how they wouldn't consider it?

What? No picks available for long snapper or a 3rd sting clipboard holding QB? Maybe they're better off without.

Personally, I think we should trade down around 40 spots and get a 2nd, 3rd, and 4th.

If you're going for a skill player, QB, WR, RB, or TE, guys who touch the ball a lot, then you need to stay and use the higher pick.

If you're going for an ILB or Safety then I don't think it's as much of a difference from a late 1st to mid to late 2nd.

I love the trade chart. I suppose it's a rule of thumb, but for the most part it's worthless. Keep in mind the Jets just gave up 2 2nd round picks to move up 3 spots! That's why the Colts have all those 2s to begin with. If there's a player a team wants to move up for, they are not going to let a trade chart hold them back. Just like life, the true value of something, is what someone is willing to pay. The scenario the OP mentioned is unlikely, but was more than fair.
